members were attracted that would raise around GBP25oo per year.
The season for payment of wages is 38 weeks so the GBP600 per
week represents just over GBP40 per player, if all are paid
equally, Of course one of the best ways to boost revenue is
through increased attendances. Here I am hopeful. If the SCEFL
fixture list is kind Saturday or Public Holiday games against
Sheppey United, Whitstable and Bearstead, as well as old foes
like Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury City and Crowborough could see
big gates. Increased average attendance of say 30 would bring in
revenue of around GBP5,OOO or so.

he just funds the regular/stars that he wants to keep. There are
a few that made enough appearances last season to make this a
viable option if that's his choice?

elmofudd rightly identifies other costs in addition to wages
that are involved in running the team.I believe I read that
average match costs are around GBP150 per game .travelling costs
have to be met and , and, of course there is the "dreaded" VAT.
On the revenue side income has been obtained through Golden
Goal, scratch card and raffles, kit sponsorship and sponsorship
of matches, balls and mascots. In regard to the latter there
appears to be a big decline for in the Cugley era often match
balls for almost every match were sponsored and five or six
matches got sponsorship.Only a handfull of games now seem to
       attract sponsorship!
Does anyone know how much the ground rent is ?

£150 may cover away games (have my doubts if everything relating
to running the club is covered with that amount) but I'd hazard
a guess that match officials alone would cost almost that for a
       home game.

According to league official's one of our latest signings is on
       £250 sign on. And £150 a week.
It is also rumoured that this is the deal offered to some of the
other senior members of the squad.
How does that affect the calculations?

I think it must have been paid as Ashford United are on the
provisional list for the SCEFL Premier.
You have to give concrete proof of a suitable ground to play on
       by 31 March.
So i guess thats not a problem.

I am not surprised about sign on fees as I believe such fees
have become more common in Non League circles in recent years
but I am amazed that a SCEFL team could afford to pay the likes
of GBP150 a week, I would hazard a guess that few Ryman League
teams pay their players such sums but perhaps someone could
enlighten us on this issue !

Hardly seems sustainable to me, given the size of crowds, the
lack of income streams and the alleged poverty being claimed at
the end of last season. Personally, I can see it all ending in
       tears, again!!
