       The Price of Friendship

If you were sponsoring a football club how much would you be
prepared to invest? If you supported that team that ran into
finanacial difficulty, but a donation could save it, would you
be prepared to invest more? What if the owner himself run into
financial trouble? Where do you differentiate between the Club
       and its Administration?
I hear a sponsor from United's last turbulent season finds
himself £125,000 down. I can't name names, as the sponsors
family would not be happy at the vast amounts, and we are not
       here to cause trouble.
On a completely unrelated matter, if anyone wants their car
serviced, why not use one of Ashford Uniteds' main sponsors:

Normally I would have a great deal of sympathy but hard to
sympathise with an experienced businessperson that either missed
or ignored the very many, readily reported, warning signs.

Blimey, it's almost like a celebrity sex scandal really. Most of
us know who you are talking about, but nobody is willing to/can
say because of worries about the family.
The big question is, is it still sponsorship when it becomes
personal? It seems to me the backing has gone way beyond club
sponsorship and in to personal funding. Therefore, one has to
wonder what the sponsor has to gain from it?
Looking likely to become a battle between 2 businessmen over the
ownership of the club and ground, now that DC's normal tactic of
wearing down the opposition to get his way has blatantly failed
this time, and looks likely to continue to do so.
The problem for the dynamic duo is that this time the opponent
has much better financial backing than their man, and doesn't
have an angry family on his back either.

No friends in business - just another mug as far as Mr Ponzi is
       concerned.
