       Atherton LR Squad almost complete

       Manager David Jones has almost finished completing his squad
       ahead of the new NWCFL 2019/2020 campaign. With less than 2
       weeks to go till the opening day game Vs Nelson, Jones is pretty
       happy so far with his recruitment.
       "When you consider on the 11th June, about 6 weeks or so ago, we
       literally were welcoming a completely new squad to the club and
       ourselves as a management team, the progress we have made since
       then has been nothing short of amazing" Jones enthused.
       " Over the last few years the club has been in turmoil on and
       off the pitch, off the field we seems to have got things in
       place to hopefully stabilize the club and moveir forward over
       the next 12 months, On the field we feel as a group we have one
       of the best squads this club has seen for a fair few number of
       years for sure.
       This league is tough, there are no easy games and while there
       will be one of two that start as favourites, we feel we can
       compete and much more difficult to beat. There are a lot of
       teams who have playing budgets,we have opportunity and the
       platform to be part of something successful that everyone can be
       part of, while having money to play players may in theory bring
       you a better "quality"player, it doesn't guarantee success at
       all'.
       Jones already has seen a number of payers come and go throughout
       preseason but is convinced that process is necessary to ensure
       the "right" kind of player is at the club from the start of the
       season -
       
       "We have a process in place and judge a player on three things -
       Attitude, Commitment and obviously Ability, if you are missing
       the fundamentals of one or any of them then we have
       unfortunately had to let players go, its nothing personal just
       football management and the same at any other club, what we are
       left with are a group of talented , determined players that have
       completely bought into our ethos and playing philosophy and
       thats all we set out to fo at the start of preseason.
       The final Atherton LR 2019/2020 squad will be announced on
       Thursday 1st August
