       As you may be aware, a decision as been made to withdraw the 681
       service from the Hag Fold estate.
       The decision was made by tfgm not Jim Stones the operator, your
       local councillors where not consulted which I’m annoyed at.
       I have made my concerns known to the council, tfgm, and the
       Mayors office.
       It seems nonsensical that we have seen millions pumped into
       Wigan, Leigh and Bolton Bus Stations and the guided busway.
       Urging people to use public transport. Yet they decide to pull a
       vital service off the estate that is much needed for many on the
       estate. I have had a response off Jim Stones which is at the
       bottom of the post, I have had notification off tfgm, that I
       will get a detailed response shortly, to date nothing from the
       council or Mayors office. I will keep you updated, but I will be
       fighting for this service to be returned.
       Dear Councillor Gerrard,
       We are so sorry to have to withdraw this service but we have no
       alternative as Transport for Greater Manchester are unwilling to
       help us financially after we have lost several school contracts
       that helped to subsidised this route. This is the reason for the
       short notice and out of our control as we have been waiting on
       their decision.
       We made the decision to discontinue this service in MARCH and
       only found out last Friday that they would not support us. They
       have listed their reasons as shown on the attached notice which
       is currently displayed on our buses.
       We cannot divert our 682 due to timing issues and it is tied in
       with other routes.
       Again we are really sorry but this service does not even cover
       the drivers wages so surely you can understand we cannot operate
       at a loss. This does not include insurance, diesel and running
       costs.
       Please feel free to take this up with TfGM as no other bus
       company was prepared to to take over this route on a commercial
       basis.
       We trust you appreciate the reasons why the service has been
       withdrawn.
