release—the jab missed, but it let me gauge just how fast the
spider is, and that means the uppercut from the right hand...

For the merest moment, I'm locked up, muscles clenching from
toes to nose (shut up, it rhymes) as almost all of that
electrical energy reroutes into the one square inch between the
first two knuckles of my right fist. Redirects, focuses,
amplifies. What should be just another lump of meat glancing off
of the creature's carapace is a taser, punching straight in to
try to crack that case and begin cooking the stupid mutant
dream-lobster where it sits.
The fist cocks back again and I fix my eyes on the spider's
beady little... er... two of the spider's beady little orbs.
"Last chance. Get the fuck outta here now, or I pound you to
powder and bosses snort your glam off my friend's ass after the
show."
I mean, not that they wou-... well... I mean, I don't think AK
would. AB probably would, she gets pretty wild after a show...
but whatever! It's a threat! At a rock concert! What the fuck am

Hooray! I’m a part of the entertainment now! Well, I mean.
My ass is. But that’s close enough for me.
The spider doesn’t budge, though. It’s having too
much fun causing mischief to run just because someone cooked
it’s insides, apparently.
“I’mma hold you to that,” I say cool as a
cucumber, and attempt to manifest a chimerical sword. I’m
running out of non-fighty options, here. And if this is gonna be
a fight to the death, I’m going to want to pitch in
instead of just watching, rewinding time, failing to heal, and
generally being a nuisance to my team.

enough. The blade bounces off the spider’s carapace instead of
landing in the crevice created by McMuscleBabe’s electric shock
punch.

God. Fucking. Dammit.
This was my favorite work jacket.
What? Yes, I have multiple work jackets. You never know when
something's going to fall or catch or whatever and tear
something, and you can't exactly be like 'well, I guess I just
won't work until I get the new safety gear in'. So you buy like
3 and try to make sure the accidents don't come too frequently,
you know?
Besides, I know someone who can fix this shit, if given a few
days for people to assume it's just a replacement.
Still, the spider has made a critical mistake here: By stabbing
me with its stupid little blade-arm... now it's stuck in place,
and I get to rear all the way back and smash down on the same
spot I hit earlier. That should convince the stupid thing to run
away! I'd like to see how brave it feels now!
I mean, I'd like to, but I can't, cuz I just got a face-full of
spider-guts as the exoskeleton shattered. The chimera writhes
and flails as it dies, though, so I keep myself between it and
the paying customer, then pull the jacket off so I can start
collecting whatever there is of the corpse.
What? Look, AB's gonna want to get a look at this if possible,
and I did say something stupid about her and AK snorting Glam
off of sword-and-wall-girl's ass, you know?
Straightening back up, I turn to look at my assaivior again, a
little more critically.
"Hi. I'm L. Nice party tricks. C'mon... the ladder's over this
side.." and I start to carefully lead her over toward the way
down.
Th'fuck am I gonna tell people was cutting the ropes? Rats?

McMuscleBabe.
I’ll follow her down the ladder, making her go first because if
we’re gonna sniff stuff off my ass, she’s gonna get a good view
of it first. Which means I go second.

motion to that weird spot right under my ear but not quiet on my
neck.
