The spider freezes, like a racoon caught in the act. And then,
just like said racoon, it continues to do what it was doing,
just more slowly and sneakily, in plain sight, where we can both
see it.
“Wait are you sure that’s a good idea?”
Yes, because I’m always concerned with what counts as a Good
Idea™. Like climbing scaffoldings, and dive-tackling roadies.

me. McMuscleBabe falls up off the floor and lands on her feet on
the scaffolding. The screams play in reverse.
Time rewinds until just before they throw that ill-fated punch.
“Watch your feet,” I warn them this time. I hope that’s enough
of a change to kick-start a different series of events, because
I’m not sure I can repeat that stunt all willy-nilly.

do much.
Hoboy. They’ve just managed to piss it off.
It chitters and hisses, and rears up on it’s hind legs to bring
it’s front arms crashing down on top of McMuscleBabe.

The words are chanted, quiet but meaningfully, as I trace small
circles in the trails of my own blood left by those slashing
claws. As I push myself back up to my feet, the worst of the
wounds are closing, letting me take a few moments to watch the
creature, size it up, start to think about... options.
