Pheobus finishes what Catherine started. The bullet hits the
heart and the heart literally explodes, showering Lanie,
Catherine and I in disgusting black goop like it was a bad
episode of a Nickelodeon gameshow.
“Ew!” I blurt out, and Nameright laughs in the back of my head.
At me. Not with me, but at me.
Prick.
With the death of the heart, the shadows lift. The inky smoke on
the air vanishes. The place warms up rapidly, and spiders
scatter in all directions running for their lives. What’s left
is a very rich, very ornate, very elegant dining hall… with
rotten furniture, rotten floors and walls, decaying paintings.
You mean the shadows were eating my house? What the actual fuck?
Destroying the heart has definitely solved the whole
shadow-curse problem, at the very least.
Still doesn’t solve the whole my family is missing problem,
though.
I take a deep breath, and exhale.
“Halfway there,” I say.

They got it. Thank goodness. After looking around she dropped
the sword and wrapped her arms around herself in an effort to
stop shivering, but it wasn't working that well. Hopefully now
that the temps in the area were rising the cold that had hit her
like a mac truck would fade. She felt like her exposed skin was
numb.
She moved closer to Phoebus and looked to him and then the
others. "Is anyone hurt?"

yet though, so I do not sheathe Eldi Sverd. I look at Jenessa

I say about the frigid cold that had actually managed to harm me
a little, but not enough for my to worry about.[br][br]Eve has a
prisoner. I walk over and look down at him for a moment. "This
will be useful." I say, pointing my flaming sword at him.

He slipped his gun back into it's shoulder holster under his
jacket, and went to Jenessa. "Are you cold?" As he asked he
removed his jacket and offered it to her. Then he put an arm
around her, and moved to forming a semi-circle around the
hostage.
He pressed his lips and stared at the cultist.

I shudder harder, this time with squick. These clothes are going
into a burn pile in Eve's back yard, states away from anywhere I
feel like being for the next few months, and I'm taking the
longest, hottest shower ever in the history of showers as soon
as we find her family and make sure they're safe. I don't care
if I have to go back to the Café starkers and get insta-booted
back to a safe house somewhere.
Ew.
I breathe shallowly, because this stuff stinks. I give Eve a
sympathetic look when her deep breath turns into a coughing fit.
"I think we're all mostly okay or will be."

and slipped it on thankful for the warmth. She leaned against
his side briefly before moving to stand beside him near the
prisoner.
When Eve asked for something to tie the guy up with she
considered and then reached into her bag and pulled out a spool
of dark blue yarm holding it out to Eve. "It is much stronger
then it looks, as strong as chain mail would be. it should
work."
