I simply nod to our leader and float in to take a peek.
Once in there's a gargantuan, inky, yet anatomically correct
heart swaying gently over the table as shadow and bitter chill
pump out if it with each ka-thump, ka-thump. On either side, a
black hooded figure kneels, muttering toward the heart,
presumably praying to it.
Just as quietly as I crept in, I tiptoe out, motioning everyone
to move back a bit. Just in case the beings inside aren't as
focused as they seem, then softly report what I've seen.

This place was all new with him, but he watches Eve's expression
as the report is given. For now, he holds quiet.

I frown. “I’ve never heard of anything like it, either,” I say.

The idea that there is someone in here doing this to my home,
and probably responsible for my family going missing, has me
shaken.
To my core. But I keep it under wraps that I’m frightened. I
truck on despite that fear.
That fear makes me angry.

[br][br]The rogue doesn't seem to have a weapon, nor does the
alchemist. I kneel down and call on the mountain cold, breathing
in and out, in and out, in...then I exhale a cold breath that I
blow onto the ground. I scrape the frost into ice and in a short
time a pair of crude swords now sit on the floor. I hand one to
Lanie, and one to Jenessa. Even if they do not plan to fight,
they do need something to protect themselves.[br][br]Once done I
ready myself. "I am ready when everyone else is." I say then
stand facing the door, sword ablaze laying across the top of my
shield, ready to march forward. ((Swords function as standard

And I see Eve's Determined Face™ and am taking it completely at
face value. Not that I really have any reason to do otherwise.
Katherine just keeps breaking out the nifty tricks. When she
hands me the sword, I heft it a bit and turn it in my hand. I
can probably manage to use it to block a blow and probably put
the pointy end in the other guy, but that's about the extent of
my expertise. Hopefully, that's all that will be needed.

Maybe he's just not as invested as the others, but he doesn't
react to the way Eve says they die. He's not sure whether they
are people or creatures at this point. Monsters can pray. He
draws his gun, shifting the torch to the other hand. Seeing
Jenessa getting handed the sword, though, he cleared his throat.
"Do you want the gun, Jenessa? I am accustomed somewhat with
swords."
They had been together for seven months, and he's never asked if
she can use a sword?

She nodded at Eve words. She had never even been in any sort of
fight before, and here she was standing with a group of people
ready to go into battle and possibly kill other people. Bad
people who had possibly hurt Eve family she told herself
mentally. She watched as Catherine created two blades from
nothing but her breath clearly impressed. When she took the
sword however it was clear she had never even held one.
She shook her head at Phoebus. "I will keep the sword. I am less
likely to shoot someone accidently with the sword. I think I
will hang back a bit though."
