The shadows scatter and chitter, fleeing in all directions like
Heartless on the run from a Keyblade. That leaves us able to see
by the light of Catherine’s sword: Dark, dirty walls. Rough-hewn
floors with a creek spilling by. Roots sticking out of the walls
and ceiling, dangling into our view and casting eerie shadows in
all directions.
“Okay,” I say. “This way.” And I start leading people in.

As the wave of cold and misery roll out and threaten to
overwhelm us, somehow it just pisses me the hell off.
"Seriously? I can't wait to see Katherine whoop this thing's
butt." I don't give it the distinction of calling it a woman,
regardless of what it appeared to Dean as.
Also, I know my limits. I'm fantastic for picking its
pockets(es), but whooping butt I leave to those qualified for
it. Especially after that commanding imperative! Mental note, if
I ever need to have goons taken out, I need to get me one-a
them.
I follow fairly closely on Eve's heels as she heads into the
caverns. She knows the blueprint of this place, I don't. I'm
doing my damnedest to think of it as a dirty ventilation system.

He was impressed by Catharine, chasing all the strange creatures
away. As for the 'Underdark', he knew enough of it to know it
was bad news in many, many ways. He wondered just how bad it
really was going to be.
Eve leads the way, and he falls instep behind Lanier and
Catherine, holding Jenessa's hand and falling in step beside
her. "Do we need light, or would that be a very bad idea?" He
asked softly through gritted teeth.

She froze as that was pf freezing cold air washed over her
leaving her feeling nothing but despair. She let out of muffled
sob covering her mouth with her free hand as a single tear ran
down her cheek. She took a deep breath shoving the feeling away
from her with a force of will. She took a deep breath calming
herself, and then another.
"I am not as familiar with the Underdark as i feel i am going to
need to be. I have only ever read one of the Drizzt books."
Seeing the shadows, so man of them caused her to shudder and
take a small step back before she could stop herself. Catherine
had the situation under control however and caused the shadows
to flee.
Once they were inside the caverns she stopped. "Just a moment
please. You wanted me to take samples of the ichor the shadows
are leaving behind. I can do that now. " Reaching into her bag
she pulled out a small leather wrapped bundle. Opening it she
pulled out a couple of small glass vials and what looks like a
tiny long handled ladle. Using the ladle she started to scrape
the ichor from the walls into the vials studying it as she did.

The ichor is thick like maple syrup, and shimmering like an oil
spill. Our alchemist manages to scoop up quite a bit of it,
filling as many vials as she likes with the stuff -- and, at a
quick glance currently, she manages to deduce that this oil is
somehow both Chimerical and Spiritual.
That is to say, someone with the ability to interact with
chimera would be able to do so even if they didnt have any
spirit ability, but someone with spirit ability would also be
able to interact with it, even if they didn’t have any
chimerical ability.
Hells know what kind of cosmological fuckery is going on to
create that effect.
“Light would be great,” I say to Phoebus. “Right now the only
reason we can see is because of Catherine’s sword, and I don’t
know if everyone can see that right now.”

Light. Right. I can see because of my sword, but those behind us
may not. I am a master of Pyretics, so it stands to reason... I
grab a root, and tear it from the wall. I chant a small verse
calling on the dragon, then a deep breath, then release as fire
comes from my mouth and ignites the root, shedding light like a
bright lantern might. I had it to Phoebus since he asked first.

He takes the torch Catherine so helpfully ignited. "Than you,
Dame Catherine." He replies, considering for a moment.before
uttering something in a flowing, dreamy tongue. Suddenly the
torch turns to a flickering blue light that is much brighter
than it has a right to be.

over a month without consuming the fuel. "There we go," he said,
and held the torch up to shine on their path ahead.
He still took a protective posture near Jenessa.

The light Catherine, and then Phoebus provided helped as she
carefully gathered a couple of vials of the Ichor. She held up a
vial into the light seeing if he reacted.
"This is stranger, so very strange it is both spiritual and
chimerical. I have never heard, or seen of anything like it
before. I will need proper time to study it, and now is not that
time." She tucked the vials away and nodded to Eve. "Thank you
for waiting, we can go on now."

By the light of Pheobus’ LED torch, I lead us through the
Caverns. I’m making our way through to the Manor. We pass a few
chambers with creeks and ponds, and I quietly check each one --
maybe my family is down here?
Eventually we find ourselves climbing a steep hill. I recognize
where we are! This leads up to the Manor!
As we approach, I can’t help but notice that the big stone door
that leads from the Manor into the Caverns is… open. That tells
me that the Family must have fled in a hurry.
There’s a soft thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump echoing
through the cavern walls.
I turn to our Rogue, and nod up ahead. “Think you can sneak up
and take a peek before we barrel in, torches blazing?”
