Gina recognizes that look from many mornings looking in the
mirror in her youth. She used to live inside a bottle,
especially after... well, they'd get to that. Fortunately, this
waitress won't remember her much if at all. If Lena weren't here
maybe she'd never even get served once she chose a seat. Rather
than sit across from Lena, she squeezes into the booth beside
her so they both have their back to the wall. Despite the closer
proximity, it's less intimate perhaps, as they're not face to
face. But both of them look like crap, so maybe that's for the
best.[BR][BR]"Are you quoting Scripture at me?" they chuckle,
taking off their sunglasses and hanging them by one arm in the
collar of the tank top beneath their jacket. "I prefer the
Gospel of Maynard: 'Good luck, you're on your own'." They push
their gross hair up and back over their scalp, putting an arm up
on the back of the booth behind Lena like they're some
rockabilly boyfriend.[BR][BR]Then she grimaces, the facade
dented by that observation about her dating life. "I think
you're implying the problem was me and while there's probably
some element of truth to that, sure, it wasn't like we had
speed-dating on Sundays or anything. I might not've had any rank
worth a damn but I was... strong, and they used me until there
wasn't any steam left to blow off. I was always tired. I am
always tired." She glances at Lena meaningfully. "You shoulda
       got a cat."

Reggie traps Lena in the booth, pressed against the wall the
blonde turned back so that her back was in the cushion, and
finds herself in next to the other magi. Theres a questioning
look for the other woman as there was space on both sides of the
booth that were behind the wall, but in the end she says
nothing, allowing the other to remain.
"Shoulda, coulda still didn't." Lena shrugged with a chuckle.
"Like i said, I had more mind for my research than anything
else. I'd internally worried I would get so into my research
that one day I'd have shown up at home to a dead cat." She shook
her head as that arm draped over the back of the headrest,
putting the two of them in even closer proximity than they had
       been the last nine hours.
Reggie's presence was a heat, and Lena shifted slightly to turn
and look up her darker counterpoint. "I never implied the
problem was you, you misconstrue my words." She raised a brow at
Gina now, her head tilting. "I remember what it was like being
low level, hell I remember when I was classified as a piece of
materiel, rather than personnel." Her eyes closed at the memory
as she leaned back in the bench, her head propped up by Reggies
       arm.
"Its not a place I wish on anyone, unless they choose it for
themselves." She sniffs the air briefly and looks up at Reggie.
"You...need a shower." But then, she sniffs at her own pit and
grimaces. "Nevermind, I do as well." She sighed as she leaned
forward, for a moment looking almost like their waitress when
       they entered.
"And yes, scripture, there is some value in it, even for those
who may not value it for its, supposedly divine nature."

"But you did consider a cat! I knew you were a cat lady at
heart." Stated with no malice at all, just an understanding
grin. "I think I had one too. Don't remember much more than that
though." She only recalls the thin, furry tail slapping her
face, waking her up many mornings. Too small to be one of the
other, stranger RDs she'd probably taken to bed. Process of
elimination.[BR][BR]They shrug, apologetic. "I read between the
lines. Don't fret over it." They do this again, though, Lena's
comment on material earning her a quirk of the brow. A strange
remark but there's not much else to go on and they're too tired
to press in anything like a tactful way. Instead they just bend
their elbow, their forearm falling off the back of the booth and
their hand landing on the Chorister's shoulder in an attempt to
provide some kind of comfort through physical touch. "That's
rough, buddy," they observe, solemnly.[BR][BR]She winks at the
observation that she smells a bit ripe, because she does, they
both do, and there's probably a pitched battle waiting for them
at the motel room once they accept that there is only one shower
to use between them. "So do you believe, or is it really just an
opiate for the masses? I've seen too much weirdness in the world
to buy into forces I can't touch or at least shoot in the face,
we broke reality open like an egg and all influences should be
visible if you have the means and the knowledge to look. Is my

Reggie asks a, well a deeply personal question, one that
underpins a great many things and the serious look that forms on
Lena's face says it underpins her as well. She'd consider the
question, or, more likely considers the best way to answer that
for a few seconds before nodding.
"I do." She offers with a sigh. "Not in the way most do
however." She is almost cryptic about that answer before she
smiles up at the black haired woman. "But, I feel that may be
too personal a question, given we've barely talked for more than
       ten hours previously."
She deflects, and its the first time she has so openly done so.
She shifts course. "And for your information, I'm an animal fan,
not simply a cat or dog person. I'd get an iguana if I didn't
think I'd kill the poor beast."

toward where their waitress might be. Used to going unnoticed,
but Lena's here, and Lena is quite noticeable. Time moves so
awkwardly when one is exhausted. Maybe they should've stopped in
KC.[BR][BR]They chuckle and give the blonde's shoulder a
squeeze. "Why are you so damn concerned about killing your pets?
That's barely even a thing! Usually they just get old and keel
over, like people do but faster." Ah, aging. She could be doing
it more gracefully, and she could be doing it worse. Lena seems
to have it figured out, since she still looks young at what
she'd indicated was probably at least closer to seventy or
eighty. They'd had older friends that looked younger,

Lena feels her shoulder get squeezed, and for being a therapist,
she seems to shift a little, perhaps not entirely used to close
contact these days. She tilts her head, looking up at Reggie
with a "oh really?" look. She crosses her arms then and leans
forward, resting her arms on the table as she thought about it.
"I don't particularly like the idea of an animal in my charge
dying. Especially if it was from neglect, at that point I might
as well killed them directly." She sniffed a bit and turned
towards Reggie, one leg off the couch while the other became
       crossed under her other thigh.
"What do you imagine will be your next steps, when you reacquire
who you are?" She asks, looking Reggie in the eye as she asks,
clearly watching to see her reaction.
"Can you really even know what you will want? What you will

Rather than follow her with their arm they put it back up fully
on the booth, freeing Lena up and giving her some space to
choose her own orientation here. "So get a snake, only need to
feed those every once in a while and the rest of the time they
just kinda do their own thing." They boop Lena's snoot with
their free hand, which they really don't have to do.[BR][BR]The
question catches her off-guard and maybe it shouldn't have, but
she'd been expecting... what had she been expecting? Hard to say
now. She works her tongue inside her mouth as she thinks that
one over, taking an inordinate period of time to reply, "No
idea!" This is kind of a crappy answer, so she continues: "I
know I wasn't happy, or else I wouldn't be where I am now.
Probably I'll kill everyone that knows I exist, present company
excluded of course, and figure it out from there, try something
new."[BR][BR]This also is kind of a crappy answer, but now it's
a longer one, which means it's better.[BR][BR]"What about you? I
destroyed your life and ruined whatever experiments you were
doing on those people at the shelter. Are you just gonna ride
off into the sunset with me or are you gonna split as soon as

The boop does not go unremarked, the woman looking rather
incredulously at her compatriot before reaching out as if she
might boop the woman in return, and instead takes it a step
further, planting her finger where she could imagine Gina's
nipple was and twisting her finger right overtop like a low
       grade purple nerple.
"Boop me will you." She says with an imperious shake of her
head, before she settled once more.
Reggie speaks of a clean, if perhaps bloody break from all those
who knew of her existence. Lena nods to this, perhaps
understanding the urge. She admittedly wonders if Reggie really
means that she will be spared the cleaning operation. She
doesn't voice this in this moment, and instead regards Gina
curiously, looking up at the woman even from sitting. "Should I
live long enough to see it, I would be very interested to see
       precisely, what you do."
She admits this freely, before she turns to the question that
Gina poses in reply. "I don't know honestly, the work I was
doing with those individuals is still in play, and hopefully it
will bare fruit for them, in the end that was the point after
all." She shrugged. "As for what comes next? I'm not sure, I
should still be able to live comfortably anywhere I go, and most
of my money is safely beyond ther emit of most individuals
       purview." She tilted her head.
"Somewhere warmer I think, at the very least. Maybe the west
       coast."
She brings back that quirky smile then and looks over at the
       waitress.
"Could we get coffee and some breakfast please?" She calls,
perhaps Reggie's cloaking was affecting her as well in a way. Or
maybe the young woman was still trying to become functional,
       could be both.

Regina responds probably about as one would expect to this
assault, their frontside pretty compromised with Lena in an
inside position. They flinch and nearly fall out of the booth,
grabbing at the table to stop their descend with a startled
noise. "Heyyy! I thought you wanted to take things slowly," they
joke as they sit up straight, using both hands to adjust their
jacket strategically to cover their chest. Of all the days to
not bother with a bra. The movement does make a certain subtle
shape print through at their tummy, finally revealing the
location of their aforementioned G42 clutch piece - probably
tucked into a belly band.[BR][BR]"Aw, you just stole my answer,"
they whine, a fake accusation considering their own reply had
been so devoid of real content in the first place. "Guess we'll
figure it out together, then? Always been my style anyways."
She'd needed someone to help but hadn't really considered they
might stick around after the fact. Then again, she hadn't
considered she would explode someone's earthly existence by
accident either. Which remains a pretty dastardly thing to
do.[BR][BR]When Lena flags down the waitress, Reggie turns to
wait patiently with a big smile that does not go returned.
Probably not even noticed. They're used to that, from normies.
It's a degree of separation that has been mostly beneficial
throughout their life, and only occasionally enough of a problem
to will it away for a moment. "Waffles and bacon and orange

The waitress comes and takes their order, for Lena its a three
egg omelete with a side of bacon and orange juice. The woman
asks with a raised brow if they still wanted coffee and Lena
shakes her head apologetically. "I...kinda forgot we'd been on
the road all night, going to bed after this I think." Sure she'd
gotten some sleep, but it was road sleep and that really wasnt
       sleep at all.
When the woman wanders off to fulfill their orders Lena looks
back to the other woman, skeptical perhaps even now. "Perhaps we
will. As for your nipple you deserved that." She muses as she
turned around once more and leaned back into the banked couch
and stretched her legs out from under the table.
"So..." Her voice drops a bit, not that there was anyone
immediately nearby to overhear them. "Do you have any idea of
what we might encounter when we reach our first destination?
Some forewarning would be useful after all."
She settled back then, coming to a rest as she looked around the
empty restaurant. "I hope my choices haven't doomed us to a day
of gut wrenching misery...." She muses, given the empty nature
       of the diner.
