Opening Ceremonies...

Hey guys and gals...
The ASE Staff needs your help. We are wanting to plan a great
opening ceremony for our attendees and we are having writer's
block as to what type of theme we should have for it and what we
should do to introduce the con chair and the guests of honor
that can make it. We are looking for great and creative ideas
that are both fun, wacky, and pretty crazy that would bring in
the otaku for this event.
Please post our ideas here in this thread and the one that is
picked will be handed a gracious prize of a free badge to the
convention and also if they wish, help us plan this crazy event
out.

P.S. Unfortunately, explosive thingys, anything with food,
shaving cream, and the like can't really be used all that much
because we want to keep our new home clean and don't want to get
them upset. 8)

Umm well this is just a thought but since it's 2012 why not do a
"year of the dragon" theme? And maybe for fun have some of the
staff members come out in cosplay to help really give the
feeling of a convention?

Have an opening skit where it turns into a plot for the whole
convention. Have the attendees get involved with the action and
such. Theme wise I would have to get back to you on that. ^.^;

I'm thinking for opening ceremonies you,and I mean Dr. Doug,
SWOOP in on wires above the audience in a lab coat cackling
evilly as you make your way to the stage. You are greeted by a
beautiful cosplay girl dressed as a robot you designed and she
hands you a water. you consume the water and throw it ON THA
GROOOOUND (Sorry needed to do that) and as you throw it you
complain to her about it not being cold enough. you then turn to
the audience and yell "WELCOME MY MINIONS! TO THE WORLD OF
TOMORROW!"
The theme would be the future. Considering if 2012 doesn't kill
us....we're going to go into a bright new age of technology!

Well the two characters on the logo is a scientist and a girl...
so I think the theme should be something sciency...
Hmm let me think... how about show a video to the audience from
a mad scientist that talks about the convention?
But before showing the video, have the girl in the logo run on
stage and introduce herself and tell everyone that Dr.O
( "O" for Otaku ) could not make it, but would like us to see a
video he made for us? A video I think would give you a lot more
freedom to do wacky things and etc.
The guy would then appear on screen( maybe doing an experiment
with green liquid or playing with random action figures before
noticing the video camera is on ) and welcome us to the
convention, explain whatever needs explaining, and order us to
learn new things, buy LOTS of stuff, and be on our best
behavior. I think it would be funny if he mentioned we were
"test experiments" since he IS a scientist. ;D
Should I write out a script to explain myself more fully?
But I think the theme should be based on futuristic science
stuff ( maybe a robot panda charges in as well? lol )
You know what we really need to do though???

I LOVE this idea. Especially the whole thing with the scientist
doing like a welcome video and calling us his "experiments."
I'm voting for the Scientist/Experiment theme! *raises hand*
I think maybe you could even have someone dressed up as the
scientist and walk around the convention like a mascot of the
convention. OMGcon in Paducah has OMG Guy and OMG Girl and they
come to like the Opening Ceremonies, the rave, the Closing
Ceremonies and will even walk the convention interacting with
cosplayers.

I got another idea. If you can't do the movie thing, just do a
little stage performance of some sort. Heres a little idea of
what I was thinking...
Dr.O- ( comes on stage with lab coat doing a random evil laugh
grinning demonically at the audience )
Dr.O- Welcome my little experiments, to your convention of
fun... and DOOM! MUAHAHA!
Are you ready for exciting panels, dances, market places, and
MORE?! Eh! Doesn't matter if your ready or not because you have
to be! Why?.... Because I said so! Muahaha! Now there are a
couple of rules you must know before I set you free. I can't let
you just run around with pointy sticks and risk the life of your
precious brothers and sisters! You must follow these rules
because... well... I'm your master!
(Dr.O's Mother offstage or wandering in the audience. For now,
let's just call her "Mom" )
Mom- BILLY! I HAVE BREAKFAST READY! PANCAKES SHAPED LIKE POKEMON
CHARACTERS FROM SEASON 1!
Dr.O- Mom! I specifically told you NEVER to call me Billy again!
Mom- I'm your Mother, which means I get to call you whatever I
want! ( slaps him on the head )
Dr.O- ( falls down with a dramatic thud ) Ow! Not in front of my
minions!
Mom- ( turns around and realizes there is an audience ) Bill...
Who are they?
Dr.O- Their my experiments!
Mom- Don't make me ask again!
( dead silence)
Dr.O - ( finally gives up with a huff ) They are here for the
convention...
Mom- ( to audience ) Oh how lovely to meet you all! My name is
(??) and this is my son Billy. Did you tell them about the
rules?
Dr.O- ( growls ) I was going too until....
Mom- ( cuts him off ) Alright!
( list all the rules and anything you want to add. I recommend
having Mom drag Dr.O off pulling his ear off stage when
performance done )
THE END!
