Dancing Games + Stepmania Requests!
By: Travis Date: February 15, 2012, 8:26 am
---------------------------------------------------------
So just to share with you guys a juicy tidbit of info about the
game room...so far we have plans to, at the very least, have a
dedicated In The Groove/Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine
for freeplay and tournaments, and it is highly likely that there
will be a Stepmania setup as well for more casual play/fan
requested simfile packs (The ITG machine is set up to have all
the regular DDR mixes on it as well as many other songs, as
well!). Finally, we might have one more machine coming - but
I'll save that until I get confirmation for myself, as I don't
want to let all of our secrets out! =D
So, three questions for you guys:
1. Are you going to be playing any of the dance games in the
game room?
2. Will it be a new thing for you to try, or something you've
been doing for a while?
And 3. Are there any songs (or, better and more specifically,
simfile packs, if you know what those are!) that you'd like to
see made available?
For the record, and off the top of my head, here's a current
list of the packs the Stepmania machine has on it, assuming it
is finished by the time the con comes around:
All the official DDR Arcade Mixes + Most of the PS2 console
versions
All 4 games in the Ultramix Series and all 3 games in the
Universe series
Japanese songs exclusive to DDR Str!ke and Festival
In The Groove 1, 2, and 3
In The Groove Rebirth and Rebirth 2
Mungyodance 1, 2, and 3
Tachyon Alpha, Beta, and Gamma
Casualty Violation
Guitar Hero Mega Pack
Keyboard Mega Pack
Eggman's Simfile Compilation
And a couple hundred non-pack original simfiles, including ones
made by yours truly ^.~
...for a total of just over 3,000 songs. =D But if there's
anything you want to see, or you know of some great anime packs,
post them here and I'll be certain to download them too! Or just
bring them on a flash drive to the convention. Keep the songs
relatively tasteful, though - naughty words/themes are alright
in moderation, but no pornographic backgrounds or incredibly
offensive songs, please ^.^ (If you think it will cross a line,
ask me first - it's fairly unlikely it will, as there's several
songs in my collection already that I consider borderline)

The sheer happiness that is overcoming me is..eee!
I always love using the DDR machine if it's at a con. Always!
I won't say I'm crazy pro, but not a noob if that makes any
sense.
My favorite one was DDR Extreme...
& My favorite DDR songs are:
A (is usually my favorite song)
Butterfly
End of the Century
Can't Stop Falling in Love (Speed Mix)
Witchdoctor
Cartoon Heroes
Love Shine
Speed over Beethoven
Dive
Tsugaru
Candy
and that's all I can think of at the moment.
Ee! Excitement! :3

Oh yeah, DDR Extreme was amazing! Knoxville is still an
absolutely amazing city for DDR, all things considered - while I
miss the ITG 2 that used to be at West Town mall and the DDR
Extreme from East Town, Zuma Fun Center still has two excellent
machines (a SuperNova and one of the few good X2 machines in the
nation, since it's maintained by dedicated fans =D) and there's
tons of huge fans around here, including myself (I've been
playing for 6 or 7 years now). That's why I knew we had to have
a good DDR setup, and thanks to the Knoxville community, we're
definitely going to have one! ^.^
~Travis (Favorite DDR song to listen to is probably Anti Matter;
favorite to play on foot is So Deep, the rare times I have the
stamina to pass it, and favorite to play on keyboard is Vanessa
or Max 300.)
[EDIT: Oh, and by the way, if it's released by the time the con
comes, I might enable the TrotMania: Rhythm Is Magic pony theme
for a little while. >:3]

Good sir Travis, any time Im not on duty/waterpark/panels etc,
expect to see me living on the DDR machine, especially since
were using an actual machine if I remember correctly. I'll have
a list of good stuff later, but for the sake of how INSANE it
is, I expect the good version of Southern Cross. My lack of
functioning legs will thank you for it.

Oh, of COURSE there'll be Southern Cross. One of my favorite
songs =D Although if you can pass it on foot, I'll be
impressed...=O
And yes, currently the plans are for one real machine, one
Stepmania machine, and perhaps one Pump It Up machine if we get
lucky. And if you're going to be living on the DDR machine,
you'll have a roommate. =D

I think the best I've ever doen on Southern Cross is get 2/3
through without bursting into flames. I can usually keep up with
it for the most part, but its been a while so I dont know lol.
