Otaku Flea Market

So, we had this at Ichibancon this year, and I thought it was an
awesome idea. Basically an anime flea market. People bring in
cosplay stuff, anime, manga, figures...anything that applies-
and theres an open period of vending. Its a great way to
exchange collections and make some money back. I think we should
try to run one at ASE if we can...

I was at Ichibancon as well! I went to the Otaku Flea Market at
it and I found my Haruhi cosplay there for $35 and a bunch of
other cheap stuff!

I love going to flea markets and going to a flea market full of
anime is 10x better! :D

Yaoicon does this as well. It's always a big success for all
involved and I've sold for at least two years there. I have a
few things I don't want any more and a convention flea market
would be the only way.
If I recall, Yaoicon's flea market lasted 2 or 3 hours before
Opening Ceremonies and closed down about 15 minutes before it so
that everyone could put their stuff away and would have a chance
to go to Opening Ceremonies.

I like the idea of having it before vendors open. Gives the
general public the ability to get their swag on while the
vendors set up, and everyone can exchange funds to get ready for
what they want to buy later....

Hmmm...that is an interesting idea to have it before the vendors
open up.. I guess the premise for Ichibancon to have it towards
the end of the convention is to maybe swap/barter or to give
people a chance to have some spending cash on the way home. The
good news is that the head cheese will be in town in a couple of
week to go over this and a number of other things regarding the
convention. This is the person above the good doctor.
Though I think the convention will be opening at 12 noon on
Friday, we may adjust that so that the flea market can occur
beforehand. However, not sure.

So your saying that the vendors room will open with the con on
Friday? I was going by the standard (that I've seen), where
first day vendors would have some time to set up before opening
while the con gets into gear. I could see doing 2 seperate flea
markets-One before vendors open, and one near the end of the
con...What does everybody think?

By having a potential noon opening, that would give them the
better of the morning to set up and get ready. However, one
thing that is also important to know is that they have the
opportunity to have setup time Thursday, July 12th from
8am-530pm courtesy of our friends at the Sevierville Events
Center. This is still in flux as to when the opening time would
be but everything would open at or right around the con open
time.
