Party's Over (Mom and CJ)
By: Emily Date: March 24, 2018, 9:50 am
---------------------------------------------------------
After Pastor Dan left the prom with his daughter, things got a
little more interesting. The daughter of the Vice Principal came
up to she and I and explained that she saw Chance, who is
Crystal's brother, and my son by the punch bowl. One was pouring
something in and mixing it up while the other was trying to
shield what they were doing. It was unclear whether the other
boys surrounding the punch bowl at the time had anything to do
with it.
By this time the prom was nearly over anyway. My colleague and I
exchanged looks and I went to confront the boys in the hallway.
Since Chance had a date and didn't himself seem inebriated, I'd
let him go to take his date home early with the promise that I'd
be calling his mother and that I would expect to see him in my
office first thing on Monday morning. Then, I turned to my son.
"You and I will be having a very long talk about this when we
get home, young man," I had warned him and escorted him back to
the gym and to a chair next to where I was going to be. You
could say that he was in "time out" for the remainder of the
night.
Once we got home and inside I told him, "upstairs and get a
shower and go to bed. I will come and say goodnight in half an
hour."

I had seen Crystal leave with her dad, but way before that
during the beginning of prom. We had spike the punch. It was
kinda actually a fun game really. I didn't really think anything
bad about. I had read about it before. I had only drank a little
bit of the punch myself and I didn't get drunk either.
"Seriously mom, I'm to old for a time out, I'm not five
anymore!" I say quickly. I can't believe that this is happening.
I sigh a little bit when I sit there. then we leave... and head
back home.
Mom says that I should go upstairs and take a shower and thing
to bed. I sigh a little bit and do as I'm asked. Mostly because
I need to get clean, and two because I usually always shower.
But honestly I didn't really feel like going to bed.

"Seriously, Christopher James, you move a muscle and you won't
want to sit down for a week," I retort in my son's ear at his
response to the time out. Once I make sure he's staying put, I
step away to call Chance's mom and let her know what's
happened., all the while keeping an eye on my son. And I know
Paula's keeping an eye on him for me, too.
He's showing no sign of drunkenness whatsoever...and no sign of
remorse, either. Well, maybe I will start his punishment
tonight.
We get home and I follow Chris upstairs and go to my own room to
wash the makeup off of my face and change into pajamas. Once
thirty minutes have passed, I go to his room and knock, my
hairbrush in my hand. "Christopher, we need to talk," I tell him
firmly as I move into the room.

I look at my mom when she says that I won't sit down for a week.
I can't help but to squirm in the chair as the Vice Principal is
basically looking right at me. This seriously sucked.
After my shower, I ended up going back to my bedroom. I ended
up just kind of sitting on my bed. I did however pull down my
covers and start to crawl back into it. When my door opens and I
sit up on my bed. I glance at the brush. "About what?"

"About what happened tonight," I answer my son firmly. He
doesn't seem to be taking this situation too seriously. He's
about to get some assistance with that. "Now I know you and
Chance were pouring alcohol into the punch bowl," I begin. "But
you need to tell me why you guys did it, and how much you drank,
Christopher."

I sigh a little bit. "You told me to go to bed though, I mean
you didn't say we were gonna talk about anything mom." I say
quickly. Though I'm trying to watch my attitude. I look at my
mom when she mentions the alcohol into the punch bowl. "I mean I
didn't have a lot, maybe about four cups of it." I say quickly.
But I didn't tell her the rest of it. I also wasn't planning on
it.

I sigh a little when Chris talks back to me. On one level I know
it's sass but I know there's another level of almost dread on
his part. "It's either tonight or tomorrow," I point out. In
reality, though, it's probably a little of both. But then he
starts answering me. I nod when he says he had about four cups
of it, knowing that there's no way to know exactly how much
alcohol got into the punch, but also that my son isn't actually
drunk. probably buzzed, but definitely not drunk. "Did you have
any of the alcohol before you put it into the punch bowl?" I ask
point blank.

I look at momma when she said its tonight or tomorrow. I mean
seriously it shouldn't be anything. Then she has to go and ask
another question about any of the alcohol before it ent into the
punch bowl. "I mean, maybe a little bit. I guess a couple swings
of it. So not quite a cup." Its not like she would have known.
I'm pretty sure that I am a hundred percent dead.

Listening to my son I nod wen he tells me about how much he had
before he spiked the punch. Nodding I remark, "well, it doesn't
seem to have impaired you too much." Sighing I rest a hand on my
son's shoulder and look him in the eye. I'm surprisingly calm,
having had to be in professional mode on this subject all
evening. "So why did you guys decide to do this, and where did
the alcohol come from?"

I can't help but to think that this conversation isn't going as
well as I planned. I actually planned on not getting busted. But
here I was busted and having to have this conversation with my
mom. "I mean we decided too because its something students do? I
mean I think one of my friends said that they did it at there
prom, and they had a blast." I sigh a little bit. "Ummmm dad's
stash, its not like he is gonna miss it." I can't believe I just
said that.
