WELCOME TO THE FORUM

WELCOME TO THE ALLIANCE OF CONSERVATIVE VOTERS (UK) FORUM.
Over the past few decades, the general membership of the
Conservative Party and the local associations have gradually
lost their power to the Conservative Campaign Headquarters
(CCHQ), the party's board and the 1922 Committee of
backbenchers. There are now moves afoot to make all decisions –
especially as to who leads or does not lead the party – to be
the sole decision of MPs rather the members.
The party of capitalism and entrepreneurism in the UK is
effectively operating as a Marxist state. It was they who
engineered the removal of Boris Johnson and had they been
allowed their way, we, the members, would not have had even the
final choice of our leader.
The only way to reverse this process and return power to the
members through their local associations is by rewriting the
party constitution and re-organising the board.
Many pro-Conservative organisations would like to see this
changed, but at the moment, they are separate voices crying in
the wind.
The Alliance of Conservative Voters (UK) Forum aims to provide a
common notice board where individual Conservative voters, party
members, groups of all sizes and commentators can express their
concerns and ally themselves to force change upon the government
by various means.
To this end, the forum is not a club, association, organisation
or political party. You cannot join ACVF, and you cannot
register with ACVF beyond your username. For good measure, ACVF
is not managed, sponsored, endorsed or even approved by the
Conservative Party.
From the forum, the smaller groups and commentators can get a
representative sample of what the Conservative voting public
wants from their elected government. Starting with a return to
democracy so that a small number of MPs are not deciding who
will represent you.
That is not, however, the end purpose of the forum. We, the
public, are now more politically aware than ever and have
opinions on many aspects of government. We are no longer
prepared to vote every five years or so and let the MPs get on
with it. We want them to be more accountable to us, the people
they represent.
Of course, the government isn’t going to listen to what we want
just because we have a forum. They will need to be persuaded.
We can do this in many ways. The first is by petition. More than
180,000 members of the party would be eligible to vote in a
petition. It needs only 10,000 signatures for the party to be
forced to consider a petition. That’s now, but that could change
if the 1922 gets its way.
Even then, they will prevaricate and may even choose to ignore
us. But could they ignore us if 50,000 signed a petition or – in
the extreme – resigned from the party? The latter would not only
mean a loss of £1.25 million in revenue, but the loss of 50,000
willing campaigners to deliver leaflets and make phone calls for
the party.
All of this is possible, and it will be a peaceful revolution in
the best Tory traditions, but it will be a revolution. And when
we have won that first victory, we will turn our attention to
the other pressing matters of the day.
But for all this to happen, we need numbers. We need you and me
to use the forum to express our opinions, without the need for
the divisive rhetoric of the left, but in strong terms and make
it happen. If we do not, the Conservatives will lose the next
general election, and none of us want that.
