Did you guys hear about the kidnapping of Israeli athletes
during the Munich Olympics? I heard they made a movie about it,
it was called "Olympic" if I recall correctly.

In 1972 if i am correct. I didn't watch the movie though, did
you? That was pretty scary to have happened during the Olympics.
Do you think it gave the committee a bad reputation? By the way,
       did any Olympians die?

Yes, the movie is frakkin' awesome. The mossad (Israeli secret
service) hunts down all the kidnappers and kills them.
If I'm not mistaken, quite a bit of Olympians died. Of course it
damaged the otherwise excellent reputation of the Olympics.

There are many disasters in Olympics history. Why do you think
terrorists / organisations would want to choose an iconic event
to make a statement? Are they that desperate to gain
       international awareness?

eh, yes? Isn't that what terrorism is all about? Causing mass
       panic and destruction?

I think the Olympics as an international event is a better
platform for the spread of terrorist messages. We don't even
       have to look too far.
Just this year at the London Olympics there were instances where
alleged terrorists were caught near the olympics park. Close to
14 cases of terrorist-related detainments were made by the
       established security operations in Britain.

I think this will always be a threat at high-profile events as
such. Just glad that the homeland security was alert.
