What did I feel? A mixture of regret, hate, and a general sense
of impending doom. Didn't see Rowan Atkinson though.

Rowan Atkinson – in the Mr Bean persona – one which the whole
world has come to know and love
Carving out a portion of the Olympics Opening Ceremony for Mr
Bean’s cameo was a fitting tribute to a wonderful show, a moment
truly symbolic of British television’s history

The mime acts of Mr. Bean are ubiquitous in a way that they are
easily understood. He has demonstrated that speaking does not
always need to be involved in communication. Silence, in fact,
is a common language around the world, and anyone and everyone
who has watched Mr. Bean would be able to identify with the
situations he gets himself into.
I think it's apt that the International Olympics event invited
him to perform, as, regardless of language, everyone would be
able to understand what he is doing. His acts appeal to the
masses, and people watching him at the stadium could probably
laugh at me in unison even though he/she doesn't know a word of
his neighbour's language. Laughter, much like mime acts, are
pretty much understood universally and across barriers.
