In my humble opinion the key to the chiefs game is our running
game. We are showing that we can run the ball which will take a
lot of pressure off of Jimmy G. As I wrote earlier most of
Jimmy's completions came off of play action passes and you need
the run game to work in order to make the fake. Lions defense
was playing man coverage and I don't know what the chiefs will
do.
I'm watching their last game tonight as I recorded it. Alfred
Morris was a good pick up by the team as he gets those tough
yards up the middle. This game is going to be the upset of the
week even if we don't have a dangerous pass rush.

The San Francisco 49ers secondary has some question marks, and
while we don’t have final answers, defensive coordinator Robert
Saleh offered up some insight into the team’s approach.
Strong safety Jaquiski Tartt has been dealing with a shoulder
injury that limited him in practice last week. He aggravated the
injury in the fourth quarter against the Lions, and is now
missing practice in advance of the Chiefs game. He sat out
Wednesday practice, and his status is uncertain for Sunday.
Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said Antone Exum, Tyvis
Powell, and D.J. Reed are all getting work at strong safety. If
Tartt cannot go on Sunday, I could see the team releasing
linebacker Terence Garvin to promote Powell from the practice
squad.
Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is dealing with an ankle injury,
and was listed as limited on Wednesday. Saleh would not commit
to him being in the starting lineup on Sunday, but that could
have as much to do with the ankle as with his struggles last
week against Detroit. Richard Sherman hopes Witherspoon gets
back into the starting lineup, but how he responds in practice
will impact things.

The media loves them some Richard Sherman.... He holds a darn
good press conference and answers or attempts to answer just
about any question the press has. Does he have a future as a
defensive back coach? I don't know but he has the press meeting
thing down pat and I enjoy listening to his answers. I think
Sherman and the coaches know our secondary has to improve if we
are to make the play offs. Getting Reuben Foster back will
perhaps allow the backs to play a little deeper as Reuben first
of all improves our run defense but also has the speed to cover
tight ends.
Andy Reid is an excellent coach and his special-teams
coordinator Dave Toub’s units have quietly set the table for the
success the Chiefs enjoyed in their first two games.
Overshadowed by head coach Andy Reid’s offensive creativity and
quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ undeniable combination of talent
and infectious energy, special-teams coordinator Dave Toub’s
units have quietly set the table for the success the Chiefs
enjoyed in their first two games. Mahomes has never played from
behind.
Our special teams had better be prepared for a tough day. That
does not mean we can't beat these guys.

<No guarantee that any of them is better than this. I thought
motet was a little weird at first, but grew to appreciate it. As
a former programmer, I think it was a real accomplishment,
especially as early as it was. But I guess people are into bells
& whistles now. >
Yeah, I prefer fewer bells and whistles, but I like being able
to pick up where I left off with my last post, which I haven't
been able to do here. Also, every time I hit the post button,
it takes me all the way out to the forum home page.

I expect KC to man up on our receivers in coverage. We don't
have a lot of talent at WR so they'll probably be able to get
away with it and play around a bit with their safeties to mix up
their blitz packages and disguise their coverage.

My main concern in KC is do we have a RCB? Please don't say
Jimmie Ward.

After reading this article I'm feeling much better about
tomorrows game. I think we can all agree that our defense will
win or lose this game as our offense should put up enough
points. Don't think the noise factor will bother Jimmy as he
knows the system and his receivers. I'm looking for an upset in
the chiefs tee pee.
"The chiefs defense is ranked 32nd in the NFL in yards allowed,
32nd in pass defense, 23rd in rushing defense, and Football
Outsiders ranks them 32nd in efficiency. After playing Minnesota
and Detroit’s stingy defense, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and
the 49ers’ offense should have a field day in Kansas City.

If only we got notifications of responses. The old board seems
to be much more lively. I only make it here every couple of
days.
