I'm sure there are people that can't tell the difference between
an oak and a maple. Or a cedar and a juniper. Or a cypress or
an arborvitae. Can you tell the difference between a cherry and
a crabapple?

How long does attuning take?

A 7 CP spell that nullifies an entire Skill group (Tracking), I
am not be disingenuous, I am looking at a bigger picture that
should be 'looked at' in this forum.

Just to simplify the spell, why not have it be a teleport from
one tree to any tree within say a 5 mile range? That takes out
attuning and has a limit that should be fair for a single person
teleporting.

That makes the spell substatially more powerful as it is much
more than a fast escape at the point and closer to a true
teleport which is one of the most powerful effects a spell can
have.

I agree with Samjuria.

But its a 14th lvl spell and that's a lot of manager so you need
to get the heck out of dodge you can but at a high cost.

So you can teleport 'back' to an attuned tree? Provided how the
'atunement' takes place and is not something done at a whim/no
effort it would address my concern of bypassing Tracking 10
abilities.

There are a lot of things that bypass skills. Evade and
alertness come to mind and so do resists. There should always be
something that is a counter to something else. Even if it is a
hard counter. Not everyone will have this spell, and if you are
a tracker and happen to run into a mage with this then It was
just not your lucky day. Just like if you try to execute someone
and they have alertness.

I like the idea that it is for 'specific' types of trees. For
one, the spell is a rip off from a Table Top game where this was
the case. And secondly it is kinda cool when people walk away
from a game learning something 'legit' like how to Identify
Trees.
That said, I think I have put in as much as I need to on this
thread. My go too class is Druid in table top games so if the
spell passes my next character will probably benefit from it
eventually.
