No Black Book Characters
By: Zaud Date: March 31, 2015, 11:02 pm

I would like to put forth a rule: All player character races
must have written rules.
One of my big issues with Tim's game was there were a large
number of characters running around with no written rules. My
thought was it opened doors for 'his friends' to be treated more
fairly then other players.
I have no difficulty with 'players you trust' being given the
opportunity to play test ideas.

I agree with you, every playable race should have a full write
up that is written down. I also don't think there has been a
race yet that has been played that has not been written down in
Aldeon, so that's pretty simple.

I have not seen write up on Shifters/Abilities/Costs nor the
Monks shifted forms. If they are out there, point me in the
direction.

There is the first write up for shifters. They are going to get
an Overhaul at errata. Right now it is also a flat 8 Cp to just
play a shifter, then you need to buy the other perks. It also
takes plot approval to play a special race.

Start a Shifter Thread if it is going to be done at Errata, can
save a bunch of time.

As far as I know anything that is playable in game has a rule
set for it. Out of curiosity what part of shifters needs an
overhaul?

Probably their healing ability more than anything. It shouldn't
be nearly impossible for npcs to kill a character exept with a
death effect. The only reason nightmare was able to kill Austin
in his first fight is because he threw a deathstrike.

To be fair, anything silver would end a fight with me pretty
quickly. Also If I get dropped and someone starts to killing
blow me, i cant heal out of that.

I'll personally be working over the shifter rules to get them
into a form that I think is fairer for everyone. We've been
developing the rules for the cursed shifters and I feel like the
natural shifters should be brought a bit more in line with their
power level with some tweaks. Right now they get a bunch of
really neat stuff with minimum investment which is quite
unbalanced relative to base book characters. I will post the
writeup so that everyone has another chance to look over it and
throw their input in. I would ask that everyone not
collectively shit their pants once again when they get to see it
because it's not a very productive use of anyone's time.

As far as monk shifted forms go, I don't think they're terribly
problematic compared to shifters. We'll be putting together a
point buy system with a group of abilities that the form could
have access to as an actual system with which to run the faith
effect but for the time being the animals that they change into
are converted from DnD with the monster conversion rules that
are at plot's disposal. If you see a bird then it can fly and
probably has Keen Sight and a bull would have a few levels of
Strength Plus and probably a Flee.
