I can make any modifications to the spells listed for accuracy.
It did seem that a number of people brought pens rather than
pencils, which made the utility somewhat diminished, but that is
an easy behavior to fix.
I know there were suggestions for simple check boxes that people
can use then scratch out to track multiple instances they have
received a spell and used it up over the course of a game.
Assuming no one gets a spell cast on them more than two or three
times, it makes sense, but then there is the question of how
often these will be printed and how much paper we expect people
to go through.
There is also the consideration for how having a spell is marked
on a sheet. I'd rather prefer to have the caster name added to
the sheet so it is known who cast a particular buff, or the
plot's name if applicable. But then, not all of us are legible.
I've been guilty of rushing a signature before to be sure.
My last consideration for this would be making a better more
durable version that players can pay a bit extra to pick up,
either from plot or other players. If I broke the sheet into
parts and put them on laminated pages in a small leather wallet,
for instance. But before I or anyone else can get creative with
things like that, there really has to be an agreement on what is
tracked and how, so that a lot of effort isn't put into
something ultimately invalid.

My Thoughts after seeing the sheet.
Put it on the back of everyone's character sheets, to avoid
duplex printing since it slows things down just mass produce the
'Buffs' sheet and put the player sheets in as usual.
On the Buffs Sheet: I recommend putting boxes (5 or so) that can
hold initials next to each of the Shields. Mage who casts the
buff initials/makes mark and the player strikes through it when
it is used up. 5 boxes helps to reduce erasing and gives an
idea of how much mana people are going through. Your not going
to catch cheaters, but it helps keep honest people honest.
Since plot has to go through character sheets for xp spending
anyway, they can look at the back of the sheet and put in what
buffs the people started with on the 'front' of the sheet in
some kind of short hand. This has the advantage of giving Plot a
chance to know what resists are out there and have a general
feel for how players are doing in the buff department and gives
a chance to notice if any discrepancies are occurring. If plot
knows they party has no protection from Fear they can avoid
wasting a bunch of time setting up an encounter that the PC's
can not come close to due to World Effect Fear.
I know this may seem like a waste of time to people, why fix
something that isn't broken after all, but we need to implement
systems now for when the game gets bigger. It is far better to
get into good habits now with a reduced player base then to
'need' the better systems later but not know how to bring them
into being. LARPs have growing pains, and many of you have seen
some of them, otherwise you would not have broken off from 'a
different' game to create your own (very much like the
original).
(Personally, I think buffs should just come down between game
days, it simplifies this process and makes Mages more useful in
that people can not store buffs between game days)

I agree with all Zaud's points except the buffs wearing off.
Buffs are awards from plots at times, in addition to being cast.
It would also greatly increase the demand for mana, which means
either a large drop in buffs used or increasing mana - which
causes other balance concerns.

Like Selerik said, casting a new set of buffs every month would
get very costly for mages. I personally would throw up 22 mana
worth of protectives every game just to have my shields and
armor up. That's more than a little ridiculous to start the day
off with.

It would give you choices to make on your mana use, it is true,
but many other games make people do just that. Though for me
this is the only game that lets you keep buffs between events so
it is 'weird' to me, but it is the only thing most of you know

If we made it to where buffs went away most people who are not
mages would not get them. This would be another Nerf for mages,
and a slight one for everyone else. Suggestions for mage Nerfs
keep coming in, but dont forget that too many nerfs will render
characters unplayable. We have some solid Ideas, but we cant him
the mage with them all at once because they will fall into
unbalanced. And then Rip Theurge.

I'll save the 'nerf' talk for a different thread. Though most
are looking at my suggestions towards 'game flow' as 'nerf
mages' but it is not the case.

If we were to change buffs to wear off, that would shift mana
dynamics.
You could increase mana pools (reduce mana cost) to offset this,
but that ends up making characters that never used buffs in the
first place more powerful.
You could make buffs cheaper, but that would have differing
impact based on whether you actually need to rebuff during a
single game.
Magical items that cast a buff x/day would likely be in higher
demand, since their wielder would need constant rebuffing.
Any such change would cause a notable shift in the dynamics of
the game. Maybe not a completely different game, but one where
characters may have to be rebuilt or even relearned.
None of these things mean that it is an inherently good or bad
idea, but they are not a minor edit. This is less errata, and
more new edition level retooling of the game.

Agreed. But not only would there be a higher demand but that
would hurt the in game economy for magic. The NPCs would keep
the base cost of a silver per mana spent but since there is an
increased demand on a finite resource PCs will more than likely
up to the cost which will hurt PC spell casters because all of
the players will go to the NPCs for all of their buffs because
they don't go out adventuring.
If the NPCs raise their cost then the buffs get expensive for
new players and most people will be SOL unless they do
adventuring, which will likely expend their buffs that they will
have to pay for again, or pick up a trade skill. So not only
will the effect be mechanical in the book but it will be
dynamically on the in game economy as well.

A pocket notebook isnt a terrible idea. You would be required to
write down the buff/stats and then write down where you got them
or who cast them. That way a log is kept. Instruction stuff
could also be in the booklet
