       Rogue Class

Rogue Class: Needs a reworking but other rules should be
clarified before making this class work, the fact that no one
sticks with playing rogues should be a clue that it is
unbalanced on the low side. I don’t count because I have a
passion for the rogue class and the fact they should be ‘needed’
in a fantasy game. Having skills matter is a good thing, though
currently nothing gets rogues significant xp. They are also not
needed in a group, they do not have automatic money making
spells or trade skills to offer a group and their skills suck up
a ton of CP. I’ll go more into some of my solutions later but I
am interested in hearing what others think.

See, I feel differently on that. I feel that no one plays them
because they are a bit more difficult to play than say a warrior
or monk. They benefit most from the back-stab skill which is
most effective if you are highly mobile and can move around your
opponents. They also have cheaper access to alchemy, and while
it is a 15 Cp sink to get all the required skills to get alchemy
3 which allows you to use all alchemy, i think it is very worth
it. You could then dedicate more points into alchemy and sell
the poisons you make, Vorpals are a huge demand and always get
good money. As for fitting into a group, they can be forced to
be situational, but they can still be useful in someway if built
right. Weapon choice is also a somewhat large factor, daggers,
small weapons are a rogues best friend, and the bread and butter
skill execute. I guess you really just have to decide what kind
of rogue you want to play. Assassin, charisma, spy, alchemist,
thug, they are all good, just different roles.

Also trade skills aren't limited by character class and can be
       bought by anyone.

I think it mainly comes down to how you build your rogue. If
you're built to pick locks you'll have a bad time because it
never comes up in game. On the plus side though, you can then
disable the traps that come up, attempt to lockpick a wizard
lock, and use trap weapons. Siege crossbows are pretty awesome.

While I do not play a rogue, I have to say that the things that
come up most often have been perception checks, which is
inexpensive for rogues and affordable for non-rogues as well. I
don't think this means other rogue skills lack use, it just
reflects the nature of the stories that have been prevalent.
That having been said, theurge is a short hop from being a rogue
themselves, and should likely be considered in any rework. I
don't play a theurge either, and have no idea if there are any
       active theurges right now.
