Errata Discussion

Post all of your errata ideas on this board so that they can be
discussed a bit and refined before we even get to the table for
the errata meeting. This will hopefully speed up the process of
talking through and voting on ideas as well as keep us more
organized.

Basic Idea and Thought Process: To best understand what rules
need to be changed, it is important to understand what the goal
of the game is going to be. I bring this up as I have a
‘practice how you play’ philosophy. Basically I believe you
should make sure the rules work for where you want the game to
be, not necessarily for where it is now. This allows people to
plan for the future without the physics of the game changing any
more than necessary.
If the LARP rules are supposed to support groups of 20 people,
they will be different then if they need to support 50 people,
or will these same rules work for 150+ people. What is ultimate
goal of the rules?
Another consideration is ‘will these rules work for anyone’ or
are they meant to be just for ‘this group.’ Both of these
considerations deal with longevity of the ‘campaign’/game, from
what I can tell the norm down here is for games to go about a
year or two. If that is the plan, it simplifies things greatly.
Longer running games take a bit more thought/thoughtfulness on
the side of both the players and the Plot and the core rules is
a big part of this.
