The unseasonably warm weather of the week brought many beings
out of their winter torpor around the barony of Tarox. The
adventuring population of the city started the day with a light
warm-up where a party led by faeries demolished a deranged
eyeball monster which cast many nasty magics and a mixed party
of the Sunshield Company, Silver Cross, and the Iron Cobra
Merchant Guild put down a gigantic worm from Ratoss that had
been devouring men, beasts, and homes in the outskirts of the
farmlands.
Notable occurrences in town included an attack on the monastery
of the Order of the Rooster where Yoh Kureiji and two of his
initiates fended off members of the so-called “Ru-Tang Clan”.
The newest initiate was taken captive at the end of the first
encounter but was able to be retrieved when more allies were
called to aid the monks. Around noon, the much delayed turtle
drake fights of the local arena finally occurred as teams of
three took on the beasts. Two drakes faced three teams in the
flooded arena to the cheers of the crowd. More minor events
around the city included the completion of a fertility ritual by
the Concerned Women’s Guild, a Bubasti trade caravan travelling
through the city bearing exotic items, and a quick session of
matchmaking which led to the happy couple of Brad and Janet
getting together (they extend invitations to those who helped
them get together to their wedding in February). The mansion
yielded a harrowing encounter with a large man who performed a
ritual sacrifice of a prostitute to a giant snake to become a
were-snake. Those present were unable to stop the ritual but
saved the victim and stopped the man before he could do anything
else.
The farmlands yielded a group of large ant-men that emerged from
underground to defend their territory from the Sunshield Company
and Silver Cross as they passed by. A demonic being was spotted
in the outskirts of the farmlands asking around for an imp that
is allegedly in the area. It has been requested that adventurers
keep an eye out for both this free-roaming creature as well as
the imp that he is searching for. Further afield, a group of
faerie adventurers and a Sunshield member ventured to the
village of Fogedge to find a weapon associated with the Master
of Helios. The village erupted in a riot shortly after the
adventurers arrived but investigation showed that a vampire had
corrupted the town causing the townspeople to go into a frenzy
to protect him. The naturalist Edras Oril sent a group to break
up a ring of children that were forcing animals to fight to the
death for their entertainment. The children sent out all of
their beasts at once to face the group and overwhelmed them but
fortunately an elderly man emerged from the town to stabilize
the wounded. The adults of the town have reportedly confiscated
the creatures and had them killed individually and processed.
These products have been sent along as a way to apologize for
the damages that the children wrought on the group.
The areas in the forest and near the river held encounters with
many strange creatures including grotesque and tentacled doglike
monsters, a murderous plant creature, and a den of gigantic
spiders faced by Iron Cobra guildmembers and their allies as
well as two fierce mountain lions that were handled by the
Silver Cross. The Grand Fir has offered an official extension of
condolences to the spiders of the Land of the Benevolent Leader
that were slain in the battle towards the end of the day.
