Rainy weather in Tarox slowed down the activities of the day but
the city’s adventurers braved the weather and returned with
tales of their exploits.
The cursed mansion of the city had an apparently avian theme
this month with the Sunshield Company, a paladin, and a mage
investigating the building this month. A turkey/duck/chicken and
a hawk/eagle/raven were slaughtered and a talkative parrot was
retrieved from the manor after being brutalized and was then
later punched repeatedly and with vigor by Garen Sunshield. Also
in the city, members of the Concerned Women’s Guild handed out
flyers to passersby. Everything was peaceful until a
misunderstanding with a badger changeling led to a slight scare.
Unrelatedly, a prostitute was stabbed to death in the city’s
brothel. Members of the Iron Cobra Merchant guild apprehended
the suspect and handed him over to the guard with the prostitute
being revived by the mage Atrox.
The afternoon in the city yielded a couple of notable events. An
investigation of the sewers by a mixed group of adventurers led
to a brief and stomach churning manhunt for a waste-covered
mage. The suspect was not apprehended. Lunch at the Joyful
Bottle was interrupted by a number of explosive pastries which
led to the deaths of a small bird and a peasant. Later in the
day, the pie shop itself went up in a large explosion leading to
the discovery of its owner tied and gagged in the backroom.
Removal of his gag detonated a small explosive on his person
leading to annoyance but little harm. He has been heard
complaining of kobolds since the incident. Apart from kobolds,
another normally small annoyance proved dangerous as a horde of
****roaches the size of a small dog swept through the peasant
district. After much prompting, the Sunshield Company, a
paladin, and a mage managed to fight off the swarm.
Moving to the farmlands, three tree-like people were spotted
attacking a mine. The mine’s owner and his associates were able
to resolve the issue with minimal bloodshed. Later, a dwarf was
rescued from an ogre cave on the outskirts of the farmlands. He
bragged of fighting four ogres at once and killing one but would
release no further details. The newly rebuilt outhouse in the
farmlands came under investigation by a party largely composed
of faeries after a screaming man ran from the building claiming
to have been touched inappropriately by a cold hand. The ghosts
of five dead peasants were found to be haunting the outhouse and
were sent along after a spirit of Life was summoned to fight
them. A group calling itself the Hunters of the Silver Cross
encountered a crafty mimic but were able to overcome it. This
group also brought back word that the black portal in the
farmlands remains there but was seemingly inactive this month.
Research has yielded little information on what might be on the
other side.
The Barony of the Grand Fir has reported the maintenance of
peaceful relations with Flarosa after a minor hunting incident.
Those involved in resolving the dispute are being extended the
thanks of Lord Blackwell.
A peasant from the small village of Falkirk, north of the city,
ran into town shouting for the aid of the Sunshield Company in
slaying an alleged “ninja dragon”. The Sunshield Company and the
Hunters of the Silver Cross accompanied the peasant and arrived
at the village to find it nearly completely destroyed. The
dragon in question swooped down from the sky to engage the
groups in a tense fight in which many mighty blows were
delivered and Garen grew to huge size. The dragon was eventually
slain leading to the rejoicing of the remaining villagers.
A group of adventurers helped to clear out a nearby outlet of
the Underdark. They reported finding a many-eyed beast below
which gave them considerable hardship and led to the death of a
raccoon changeling.
Shortly before supper time, a mysterious and deadly knight was
spotted in the farmlands slaughtering peasants by the score. A
brave group met the being in heated combat which resulted in the
deaths of two of the combatants and the escape of the heavily
armored behemoth. John Hunter was later contracted to track down
and fight this being. The fight lasted for over 5 minutes and
ended with John Hunter fleeing, drained and heavily wounded, and
the hulking armored man with severe damage to his armor.
