The Amount of Damage

Sometimes the numbers we throw out are incredibly high and are a
lot for people to keep track of. I'd like to work on lowering
the size of the numbers we use for damage and armor. My initial
thoughts were around making all one-handed weapons do a base of
1 damage (so you'd pay more for reach) and two handed weapons
would do 2. I haven't figured out how this would effect bows,
crossbows, portable siege weapons, magic, or maximum armor
points yet.

Making all 1-h weapons do 1 base means that every single weapon
regardless of type from small class to long class does the same
damage. You said in your other post that you wanted weapon
diversity, but with this change there would never be any real
reason to use any weapon smaller then long size since they'd all
have the same damage, and long weapons would have more reach.

As a counter point, you can attack a whole lot faster with a
dagger or short sword than you can with a long sword. As it
currently is, there is no reason to ever get dagger because you
can spend a few more points to have both better reach and damage
(or spend the same amount of points on a short weapon and do
more damage and have more reach). This would bring shorter
weapons back into the mix. People are more comfortable with
different sizes of weapons.
