The day started with shouts for help being heard coming from the
areas surrounding the city of Tarox. Three groups of
adventurers broke off to determine the sources of the cries. A
band of misfits found a noble paladin in the farmlands, a group
of faerie and changelings discovered a witch in the forest, and
a group of barbarians and mercenaries discovered an elf drowning
in the river. The three soon found each other in the city and
started to settle in with the other inhabitants.
The misfit merchant group aided the peasantry of the city
through the day by determining the source of a string of fires
in the peasant ring and destroying the Ash Rats that were
responsible for them. The group also aided the farmers of the
city by tracking down a pack of Worgs that had been picking off
animals across the farmlands. The situation was resolved by
talking the alpha into guarding the farms of their victims to
work off their debt. Continuing their journey in the farmlands,
the group were informed of a kidnapped monk of Yashua in a
nearby hut. Finding the proposed ransom of 6 gold to be a
little steep, the dwarven mage smashed the door in only to be
heavily wounded by a crossbow trap. The thugs were defeated and
the monk released to continue his pilgrimage after lecturing the
group on the perils of their violence.
The group of faerie and their allies tackled some sizable
problems when they investigated reports of missing children and
discovered that an evil witch had been kidnapping children who
had come into her fields and harassed her. The children were
discovered to have been turned into scarecrows, a problem which
the group remedied. All children were returned to their parents
apart from one who had seemingly lost his memories. The group
was also responsible for the recovery of the apprentice of the
Order of the Emperor’s Grace that had stolen items worth dozens
of gold.
The areas along the forest and the river were explored by the
Saurans of Clan Axefell and a mercenary group which found itself
under the employ of a Helean mage. Clan Axefell’s adventures
culminated with an encounter with strange, mutant, explosive
infants as well as a pitched combat with a huge spider that the
city guard refused to handle. The mercenary group did their
best to save thwart an attack by orcs on a minor merchant
caravan but was thwarted as the orcs grabbed most of the goods
and the merchants themselves.
Other events of note from around the city include a report of a
haunting from a guardsman that a mixed group of adventurers
promised to look into. That same group was later seen to be
investigating a rash of murders around the city. These strange
killings have since ceased. The inaugural fight of the new
arena was a brief but bloody affair which pitted a Dire Boar
against a wolf-like warrior with the changeling coming out on
top. It is promised that the next featured fight will have a
more exotic opponent. The city’s Jugger team arrived back after
their rousing win at the summer tournament. While the night was
young, the baron met with the general public at the Joyful
Bottle. The event was merry and the baron heard concerns on
many subjects including the reports of an alleged animal barony
which is being staked in the forest. The party was cut short by
a sizable explosion originating from the kitchen of the tavern.
This is currently under investigation by the city’s top security
personnel. Also under investigation is an alleged murder of a
mysterious High Elf who materialized in town. The Order of
Yashua’s Hand is asking for any information on this crime.
