February 2016 Game History

The morning began in a somber tone, with news of the apparent
murder of the great Glimmering Stag. Investigations by players
and information from local nature witches revealed that the stag
had been a messenger of the Master of Nature, Nahn, and it
appeared to have been killed by a massive snake of some kind.
The stag's body was covered in vines and disappeared after a
visit from the Order of Salem.
With the Master of Nature under such stress, the forest was
quite wild this month. The Hoplites and the Order of Salem
feared no challenge, and bravely entered the forest. The two
groups, who have no qualms working together it seems, took out a
fierce pack of gnolls, a shrewdness of dire apes (which managed
to take out Magnetus of the Order of Salem before the Hoplites
stepped in to assist), and saved the pixie trader Greggory
Lammill. Additionally in the forest, it appears that the frozen
glade that had been causing issues the month before has receded.
The sun began it's descent from the peak of the sky, signalling
the start of the Arena battles. This month, the arena was host
to a timed battle in which adventurers were to take out groups
of five bullywugs as quickly as possible. Five brave souls
entered. Sir Longlance, the Boulder, the Intern, Jetto, and
Jeryyde. The battles were truly a marvelous sight to see. Coming
in first place was Sir Longlance. Second place was the Boulder.
The Intern, Jetto, and Jeryyde all tied for third place. Sir
Longlance was given a weapon of quality as a prize.
With the forest under such stress this month, it comes as no
surprise that the rest of the barony was riled up as well. The
city and farmlands were both incredibly busy. Peasants in the
farmlands captured a local tax collector, Nelson Dennell, and
were threatening to burn him alive. The Hoplites stepped in to
save him, but found a difficult fight awaiting them. The farmer
leading the peasants transformed into a demon with a terrifying
red and black blade. The Hoplites were able to dispatch him and
were seen taking the blade to Deckard Abel of the Great Library.
This was not the last appearance of such a blade, however. In
the city, the mage Dagmar led an investigation on behalf of
Lacey Hanson, head of the White Maidens. According to reports,
Life users have been targeted recently for assassinations.
Dagmar bravely led an investigation with the assistance of the
Order of Salem and the knight Tetsuyo. Upon arriving at the
villain's headquarters, it was revealed that they were also
demons in disguise. The group dispatched them and retrieved yet
another of those strange red and black blades.
The Knight Tetsuyo was a hunting machine this month, it seems.
With the East Tarox Puritist Church making a bigger ruckus than
usual, Tetsuyo decided to take a group and investigate. With the
help of a well-placed compel truth spell, Father Caine
Machintosh was revealed to be an imp in disguise named
Xazgomach. He was quickly dispatched. The tale did not end
there, however, as Fathe- well, the imp had adopted a young
local boy named Thomas. This boy was previously being taken care
of by the Constable Tira Brightstar, who was called to the
capital this month. The boy had been going around town giving
information about how to kill demons. After a short hunt, the
group found Thomas in the old enchanted mansion, and revealed
him to be an imp in disguise as well named Sohon. The creature
was taken out quickly by Sir Haushalter.
Sir Haushalter shone brightly this month, leading a group around
the city to take care of several disturbances. Around noon, the
mage was raised in rank and has been announced as an official
Arch Mage and recognized as a "knight" within his order. Be sure
to congratulate him.
His group was not the only one patrolling the city, however. The
known necromancer Pluto was assisted by the theurge Minerva and
a new adventurer who somehow used music to assist in battle.
All in all, the day was very busy. Citizens can sleep a little
better knowing that such capable adventurers are there to take
care of these recent increases in monster and demon activity.
