The Crazy Old Wizard, some call him Old Snickerdoodle, extends
his thanks to those who helped provide him with some of the
ingredients for his latest enchantment. He promises that the
favors that he owes those who have helped him will be
forthcoming and that the portion of the enchanted item will be
available to those who assist him within a month of the
collection of the final ingredient.
Vlad the Black Clad of Clan Ladd was challenged to an honor duel
by Gilliam Longlance in order for the latter to petition for
rank. Gilliam defeated Vlad in a fair and honorable duel.
Immediately after the duel, but not before Squire Tetsuyo could
bring Vlad back to health through use of a potion, a group of
assassins sprang from the surrounding area to attempt to capture
Vlad. The gang was repelled by the combined efforts of Vlad,
his squire, and the Hoplites. Vlad identified them as the same
group that had killed his dad Chad the Glad of Clan Ladd and his
uncle Brad the Mad of Clan Ladd. Vlad also agreed to teach the
Hoplites some of his rarer skills as payment for helping save
his life.
The local kobold population was able to vent their anger
resulting from actions taken by some of the local adventurers.
The biggest and strongest of the kobold population came to the
arena to square off with the adventuring population. Five
contestants killed a total of seven of the kobolds with the
winner of the event being Squire Tetsuyo. Among the other
participants were Squire de Montdesir and Guard Captain
Fletchmann.
Immediately after the events of the arena, a huge glowing ball
was seen in the sky. The Amazing Criswell rushed into the
center of the arena declaring that the Crashing Doom had finally
arrived. Most of the onlookers headed for cover but Squire
Tetsuyo and another of the contestants stayed with Criswell for
what has been variously reported as “The Transference” and “The
Transvergence.” The two collapsed as Criswell performed some
sort of ritual and later reported that a part of their souls had
been absorbed by the beings in the meteor. Additionally,
now-Guard Captain Fletchmann attempted to stand in the way of
the meteor to disrupt its descent. His efforts failed as the
meteor smashed through the upper middle sixth of the city and
left a long scar through the farmlands before coming to a rest.
The meteor was recovered and brought to Altes Youghan who found
that it was inhabited by about 100 strange beetles. Some were
collected by adventurers while others were killed as they
attempted to escape the area. The meteor was then taken to the
new dwarven smith in town where it will be split up and given to
the barony to help fund the rebuilding efforts and split among
those who recovered it. A number of adventurers have stepped
forward to help work or fund the rebuilding.
Bob the Brewer managed to get the Order of Salem to look into
his newly acquired brewery. The group came upon a large group
of rats which they managed to whittle down. They also ran into
a mage who seemingly commanded the rats. The mage threw up a
number of wall spells to protect himself causing the group to
cut their losses and leave. Bob told the group that he didn’t
think the guy was a big deal so didn’t think to warn the group.
Altes Youghan would like to thank Squire Tetsuyo and Guard
Captain Fletchmann for tracking down his missing spellbook. The
thief is now serving a prison sentence to atone for his crimes
against the Wizard.
A family of adventurers ran into a hunting couple of panthers
that laid in ambush of travelers. There efforts made for safer
travel in these difficult times. The group also ran into a
Ravid which they attempted to restrain but were unable to figure
out its purpose in the area before it slipped its bonds and
fled.
The much talked about Unicorn Farm was visited by the Order of
Salem and some of their associates. The group entered the tent
to find only a few unicorns. The man in charge claimed that the
rest of the unicorns were just invisible at the time. He
offered to let the group pet or whip the creatures for an
additional fee. It was discovered that the “unicorns” were in
fact old horses with fake horns glued on. The man fled and the
guard was called. He was tracked down and arrested for fraud
and is serving a prison sentence.
The barony would like to extend a thanks to the Battlewise
Hoplites for helping guard the large hole in the wall overnight.
A small raid party of bugbears, a pack of dire bats, and a
couple of large beetles that erupted from the sewers tried to
make trouble for the town but were quickly dispatched by the
disciplined phalanx.
Come morning, Tarox awoke to find that the sun had apparently
not risen. In fact, the sky appeared to be merely void with no
stars or moon in sight. The confusion of the city was cut with
cries from Lord Barton’s residence crying out that the baron’s
daughter had been kidnapped. The tracks were followed to a
known entrance to the Underdark which had been collapsed. Upon
attempting to clear the collapse, dark spirits emerged from the
walls to attack the adventurers. It has been reported that all
known entrances to the Underdark are in a similar state.
