I do find it important. The point is not to meet the needs of
the few but to try to meet the needs of all

Well judging from the feedback in this thread I'd say you are
the few in this case. I get the want to work out everything and
bring up new ideas but there is a limited amount of time each
errata and to what seems to be most of the people posting here
this is a minor issue that should wait till after other issues
that have a wider effect on the mechanics of the game have taken
place. That may not be this errata or it may be but it isn't an
issue that concerns a lot of people.

The names are not really that important, we could call each
class 5 different things and they would not be wrong. The term
Paladin mean hero or champion. If we are going off they fact
they can be Godly that works out since there are masters over
each path of magic. Now, what I was talking about earlier about
synonyms, you are totally right that a Monk could be called a
cleric and be accurate. But its also accurate the way it is now
too. But if a name change happened I would pull for Clerics
losing natural armor, since in every game they wear something to
protect themselves while Historically monks do body Hardening
training which would provide natural armor.
All that said, i dont think it should even be brought up at
errata because it wont matter to people.

I think you guys are kind of overstating how long this would
take to vote on. It would probably only take a couple minutes
to walk through the arguments and if it passed wouldn't take too
long to edit in the book (a relatively simple "find and replace
all" should do the trick). I personally don't know if it needs
to change or not. I can see the confusion with paladins but I
find the argument against the term monk to be lackluster. I
suppose that if you're sticking with D&D terms then the word
monk doesn't make much sense but let's talk real world meanings
for a bit.
Both monks and clerics are people who shape their lives around
contemplation of their deity. The main difference between the
two is that clerics have official sanction by whatever religious
order they are a part of and have been through a long vetting
process to get appointed to such status. Literally anyone can
become a monk (or nun), especially in the Middle Ages which is
the feel we're going for. They are just people who have faith
that they seek to cultivate and use as their guiding principle
in life. That's the idea that we're going for with monks, a
monk could be someone from a variety of backgrounds that found a
higher calling. They do not necessarily have the religious
training that a cleric would have. It's a raw and powerful
belief that they can tap into to generate these effects.

Even if we did change the names I don't really like sellsword or
cleric. The original name for paladins was Battlecaster, which I
feel is a better representation of what they do, as for cleric,
too much confusion with D&D and also actual religion.

I find the term sell sword offensive as I have Paladin friends
who are not Mercenaries. Please check your privilege.

I'm fairly confident he meant to write "spellsword" instead of
sellsword.
I would like to offhandedly mention that I always thought "Sneak
& Spell" would be a good name for the theurge class.
