Master Set Instruction Slots
By: ZachC Date: April 3, 2015, 1:01 pm

I was talking with Bob and he mentioned that it would be cool if
Master sets provided a free instruction slot for teaching things
related to the set. I agree and think that it would have a
positive impact on the game. The master sets (like Polyglot,
Master Weapon Sets, Grand Master, Magic Mastery, etc) would
allow the character to teach a single skill in the set that they
have, including the master set, once each reset.
This means that a person with Magic Mastery could teach a single
path they have or the skill Magic Mastery once per reset with
their free instruction slot but not any spells. They would need
Instruction for that.

I like that idea quite a bit, as making more skills available
more readily to players I believe is a good thing.

That is actually cool. So would Grandmaster teach grandmaster,
styles, and weapon skills?

Yes. And techniques. But not skill pluses.

Sweet. I think that makes sense. If you have instruction could
you just use it as an extra slot?

I do not think it should be usable as 'an extra slot'
personally. The instruction is specifically for skills you are
'Mastered' in.

What about a master or grandmaster teaching Master/Grandmaster
Skill +?

I would say no because the master set/grandmaster are just
pre-reqs for those skill pluses, not something counted into the
cost of the skill.

I would disagree with Zach on this, though not that vehemently.
The grandmaster skill+ should probably be something they can
teach, the limit of only having 'one' instruction slot for the
ability is enough of a limiting factor to avoid any game
breaking 'instruction' going on.
Historically (ok, more of an imaginary example): The master
skill could be thought of 'gladiator' training, and I imagine
someone who has spent a ton of time being taught how to use
different weapons from around the world, probably has a decent
idea how to 'teach' those same skills (including how to do more
damage with the weapons if they know it themselves).
Grandmastery is not a 'learned it on the weekend' commitment, so
by the time someone has the ability to use the abilities,
giving them 1 instruction slot a month to use within the group
will not make the warrior 'over powered'. Obviously they can
only teach the skill+ up to the level they themselves have.

Well, I think we could make the same argument for magic mastery
should get a free instruction too then. With all the possible
changes to Instruction, if they pass im going to recommend that
we lower the cost of instruction to 1 C.P per slot and buy them
one slot at a time. That way where is no huge commitment to it
Cp wise and you can choose how committed you want to be to
teaching. Thoughts on that? Ill make a separate post on it soon.
