Interesting, upon consideration, I'd say Sport.
A hobby is normally a none physical activity, without one of the
prime points being to win, compete. You normally play sports to
win, it's a physical activity, set goals, rules etc.

Its like fishing i guess. Its a sport but is more of a hobby
when done less competitively. I still strongly disagree that its
a sport even though i can see were your coming from.

i class it as both because you can now do compertions so thats
the sporting side of it, and also i class it as a hobby as when
i go to a skirmish theres other airsofters there enjoying the
       same experience that i am

I would have thought a hobby would be collecting or building
something ? thats the way ive allways looked at it
I would say Airsoft is a sport because your allways competing
and it keeps you fit (the feels the criteria of sport for me)
       anyone else

The key element of this debdate is common usage of the term.
There are many examples of past time activities that you
wouldn't call a sport but according to international governing
bodies they are, Chess for example!
A hobby "generally" covers activities not assocaited with
targets, and rules, in a competition manner.
If you look at Airsoft, people generally play in games. Games
have a defined rules, and target, to win! Plus the physical
element of playing in an arena.
       - Hence it's a sport.
The term to be honest doesn't really seem to fit airsoft, but
until a national league starts, with a governing board, it'll be
consider by most as a hobby / interest.

Its a mix of both. as you said CrazyNutsx a hobby is were you
start of building something in a way, But surely that applies to
airsoft? Starting out being a rental/Newbie, Then buying your
own weapon of choice, Completing your loadout, Looking online
for bargains, Skirmishing. But it applies as a sport too with
the activeness of airsoft and the speed the games run at.
(Unless your delta then you never do anything) Bravo all the
       way.

Let's face it until there's money to be had, sponsors etc., and
a national league organised, it'll remain a past time by
       enthusiasts.

This debate is similar to Firearm shooting. Sport,Hobby or
Activity. Most edge towards sport but i go activity? unless your
an american then it could be a hobby i guess. Airsoft is
probably a mix of all 3. Sporty in the running about bits, Hobby
in the buying and customising gear and guns and activity for the
       skirmish part.
