Our week collecting on the pier realised half of what we
collected last year. This has been put down to being unable to
find willing collectors that can still get about.
We've 2-300 members of which a mere 40 are still able to
collect. I'm just about the youngest member (in charge of Wings
Collections) and the eldest are in their 90's.
Last year we collected £1500 on the pier, but only managed
£715 this year. Where we had two collectors per 1 or 2hr slot,
last year, i was lucky to get 1 to cover each slot. Then some
who has agreed to collect, failed to show up.
Starting Thursday we've a two day window to collect at
Morrisons, starting at 9am til 8pm. Apart from the odd slot,
there's enough folk to man the hours (although i tend to cover
the shortfall, meaning i do about 6-7hrs myself).

Final meeting tonight to sort out our branch collecting for
Wings Week. We will be collecting at 3 supermarkets, Sainsburys,
Tesco and the Co-Op but like Chris we are having a hard time
filling the slots. With only 30 members we always are pushed but
it seems worse this year. Hopefully Waddington will come up
trumps ( they provided 3 last year).

All sorted for Wings week, I'm doing 3 mornings at the Co-Op and
then filling any gaps in the cover at Sainsburys. Two members
of the local British Legion have offered to help as we always
help with Poppy Day if we can. Certainly eases our problems.

Tins in, opened, contents counted from our two day stint at
Morrisons. With only 18 volunteers (some did two shifts) we
collected £900, that's on par with last years store total.
6 tins and trays went to Holt today, for a collection at Bugdens
- am awaiting results.
Saturday 15th September is our street collection, one last push
before our season ends. So far i've got 6 members, with the
promise of ATC cadets, to collect in Cromer. I'm not sure what
is happening in Holt or Sheringham just yet, as our Chairman has
gone quiet (he looks after Holt while his wife looks after
Sheringham), not speaking nor committing to anything.

Wings Parade yesterday went very well considering it was very
hot. Had RAF Volunteer band from Waddington and a flight of
Officer Cadets (about 30) from Cranwell (some of the overseas
cadets looking fine in their decorative uniforms). About 18
veterans on parade but a lot more attended (did not parade due
to age or infirmity) and finally the local cadet Sqn.

Wings week. Five hours on stall at Co-Op today made about £40,
there just doesnt seem to be the money about this year, although
it was a very quiet day. Five more hours tomorrow then two at
Sainsburys on Thursday. Its going to be hard to beat the £2000
we raised last year. We (and the British Legion) are being hit
hard by the constant fund raising for 'Help for Heroes' >:( >:(

Only took about £60 all day (10 Hours) at the Co-Op yesterday;
took over £30 in 2 hours at Sainsburys this morning, obviously
people with money use Sainsburys!!
Sold out of badges last year so ordered extra this year, so far
hardly sold any, you just can't win :( :(

Have finalised the paperwork (WA forms for them in the know) to
be checked by the treasurer then sent to HQ with a cheque.
Wings have collected £3618 from various venues including the
Battle of Britain street collection.
If there are donations, i'm not aware of them.
Wings expenses have been worked out to be given to the
treasurer.
All that remains now is the final stock-take and the storing of
the gear, till next year.

morning and craft fair in the local church hall tomorrow. For my
sins I'm running the Tombola while June will be selling second
hand CD's and books.
