Uploading Photos from Flickr

I have been posting photos to the ADO site for many years, like
others I have made use of numerous photo sharing websites to do
this but also fallen foul of some of these sites then changing
the rules and not letting us share with sites like this.
Currently Like Laurie and Bill I use Fickr that once you get
used to it is quite easy to use. I am not advocating that this
should be the site and method of choice but after reading some
of problems people are having offer some guidance that some may
find useful.
The instructions are base on using a PC or Laptop rather than a
tablet in this case.
1. Assuming members have a Fickr account but not create one by
going to www. flickr.com

there are various options and choices available once an account
is set up, these enable you to store, protect and share your
photos.
2. Once you are ready to upload image to the Fickr site there
are two ways of doing this. I choose to manually select mine
from either my own PC or from my iCloud space.

3. Once the image or images are copied onto Fickr you will have
various options to edit them adding titles etc. Personally I'm
not too bothered by this as I tend to put a description about
the shot on the ADO site to accompany any photos I share. Once
happy upload using the 'Upload' button on the top right of the
screen that looks like an arrow in a cloud symbol.

4. You new image will then appear alongside others you have
previously uploaded in the 'Photostream' area.

5. To share a photo with the ADO site, first select the photo
you want by double clicking it. The single image will be
displayed and a number of symbols appear at the bottom right of
the screen. Select the one that looks like an arrow bending to
the right.

6. This will open a window with a code in it which is called a
BBCode. it is the index reference for the image you want to
share.

before copying the BBCode you can also select the size you want
the image to be once posted
7. Put your mouse over the BBCode, right click and select copy.
This will copy the index code of the image. Don't worry about
what it all means

8. Go to the ADO site and to the thread you want to post the
image eg. Photography. Add new reply in usual way and right
click the mouse and paste the BBCode. It will look something
like this:

There will be a lot of mumbo jumbo but don't worry too much
about it we're nearly there.
9. To just have the image you've posted being seen you will need
to strip away most of the long BBCode just leaving the bits
between 'img and img' in this way just the image will be visable
rather than a link to your Fickr account.

10. That's the image link now done, you may want to write in a
description of the image for the other ADO members. Then it will
look like this:

I hope this helps. I used Fickr to create all the screen grabs
for the guide hopefully to illustrate that if I can do it you
will be able to as well if you plan on using Fickr.

Good spot Laurie, the text as there but using the '[]' symbols
with img enclosed it acted like the BBCode and as trying to
access the image data.
Fixed now though.

Hi Martin, thanks for the info, copied moved, printed, then
started, my PC refuses to allow access to the set up process for
Flicker, I expect it is because of my Eset Nod 32 Defence, it is
very good has saved my hide a time or tooooo, even when I was
hacked., what will Ido? disable the Eset ? not happy about that,
please advise.

Looks like you'll have to change some of your settings on your
security system to allow Flickr onto your computer.

Chris, am I to understand you managed to select the photos and
move (copy) them to Flickr or that your PC's security system
won't let you? If it's the latter then I agree with Bill re your
computer security settings. If, when you try to do this do you
get a message asking if you want Flickr to be allowed access to
your photo library? If this is the case simply select yes. This
is common on PC's laptops and tablets with security features.

Thank you very much Martin. I will print your post if that is ok
and work from that. I had Photobucket once , but still couldn't
put photos on, despite a lot of help from Alan Shield.Will
download Flickr. Thanks again for taking the time to do this.

Excellent instruction on how to use 'FLKR' to transfer all those
historic pictures.
Like riding the bike, the more we use the flkr system the
easier it gets.
If it will help I will talk anyone through the proceedure on the
phone and I'm sure Martin or Laurie would do the same.
PM me and give me your phone number and we will get the nut
cracked!
