Angoing thing in any website, finding my feet on this forum,
different system on what I have been on before, some areas
unwieldy.
I am trying to make it easier for all to follow, have deleted a
few forums that were years out of date and no posts on them.
I have generated a few new ones that cover a larger area.
Its all up to you the members to generate threads under the
headings :)
An open tapestry, full speed ahead folks.
Meanwhile i am still finding my feet in other areas, bear with
me :)
Suggestions welcome, after I have found my flat feet ROFL

Do not read too much into the term "Guest". All that figure
shows is the number of people viewing the front portal and does
not indicate that they accessed the main forum to read any of
the threads. Only registered members who have logged in are
able to do that. There is no way of identifying who these
people are. I can only do that if they apply to join and give
their email details etc.
As far as I am concerned, there is no problem with the term.
Regarding the viewing numbers on the 'Current Affairs'
thread mentioned by Alan. This thread was started on 28 August
2012 and is 616 pages long. Subscriber numbers on the forum
have dropped off since that date but the figure of 74000 to be
about right for a very active thread.

Good to see you back safe and well.
Thanks for your reply and I take your points.
I still have a 'gut' feeling judging by the constant
number of 'Guests' in combination with the number of
viewings on the popular threads, COULD be suspect?
With the many ways individuals can successfully intercept and
monitor so called secure web sites, There is a possibility Only
a possibility, that this site has become attractive if only
because the word RADAR is involved?
This is the reason that I find the question of security
COULD be worth Monitoring.
Somehow, someway it would be a help rather than a hinderance to
identify these permanent guests.
My thoughts are probably driving you to distraction, They
are only my thoughts.

Thanks.
I understand your concerns re security. So far, I can find no
signs that the site has been compromised in any way. I check
through the logs on the Admin pages and all appears well. What
other forms of security checks were you thinking of?
FYI, there is a facility on one of the forum settings pages to
allow "Guests" to view the threads. Nigel activated that a
couple of times in the early days of the site but very quickly
deactivated it again. I do not have any intention of opening up
the forum to anyone other than registered members so this
facility will remain closed.

Alan Shield has agreed to take over the updating of the "At The
Going Down Of The Sun ..." thread and update that with
notifications of the passing of members of the ADO/ASop family.
He is now shown as a Global Moderator to allow him to carry out
that function.

Its always been a 'collective' when it comes to the
hundreds of threads and comments on this site which is just what
Nigel Woodger would have envisaged when he had the idea of
setting up this web site.
Of course where would we be without the leadership of Laurie
who picked up the flag, thank you Laurie.
Looking forward, how can we all continue to improve and invite
more members to comment on Issues that may be of interest to
others?
If anyone is unsure of transfering a picture onto the web site,
down load that picture to me at alanshield1947@gmail.com and I
will transfer it onto your thread.

Had a new member request from a lady named Mary Beaton who says
she was at Buchan in 1970.
Was anyone at Buchan in 1970 and remembers Mary? I have not
approved the request for membership yet.

I got to Buchan Nov 70 as a TAG left Feb 71 for Bawdsey and ADO
course. Finish and pass course back to Buchan on to D watch till
posted to 280 SU in ‘72.
What watch was she on, WRAF block as some of the ladies on here
might know her. Maiden name.

Alan, Bill, that is all the info she has given. RAF Buchan 1970,
aged 74, from Aberdeen. No mention of recruit training or ADO
basic. Very sketchy.
Did a search for her name on the other scopie site on FB but no
result from that.
Question mark on this one so I think I will reject.
