Now there's a blast from the past, met Big Hank (then Cpl.) at
Haydock bomb plot in '62 when I first
       joined up, great bloke.

Terry I served at HQ AAFCE, at Boerfink (later at Ramstein) in
the early 90s. Fantastic posting! 2 ATAF was one of our
subordinate Commands, along with 4 ATAF in the south. I did a
fair bit of travelling during that tour, visiting many of the
airfields that came under both ATAFs as part of the NATO TACEVAL
team. I have to say it was great being on the other side of the
fence and seeing the look in people's eyes when I walkked in
       with my clipboard! Good times.

Were you living at Birkenfeld Ian, I was in AAFCE Emergency
       Action cell 83 to 86.

No, I didn't have a badge, but I do remember seeing them worn.
The AAFCE one was a nice blue one, but only officers seemed to
get them. Tacevals were great fun, 5 nights away, always in
good hotels, and my own personal staff car to drive, with no
worry about the mileage. Good times. Ramstein was my favourite
"in trade" tour, without a doubt.

Hi Terry. Apart from the Sector Controllers and the admin staff,
the Link 3 was the only 'Brit' post when I got there. You must
have known Sgt Hank Watson who I replaced. TB

Nice to know that the Canadians got the same allocation as us
'Brits' did. Still didn't help me get mine. I understand that
all serving personnel in UK forces got a 50th Medal. TB
