W.O Dixie Dean was W.O on the school when I arrived. He was
later posted and replaced with W.O 'Slim' Walmsley. Both were
gentlemen of the first degree and a pleasure to know and work
for. TB

Brian was still there when I left in 1973. If he was there when
you were there then he sure spent a long time on one posting. as
I said, we really never saw a lot of him. TB

Flagpole just to the left off picture, remember on a very stormy
morning, Brian Tresham as Orderley Corporal nearly hoisting
himself up the pole when the lanyard got blown around his neck,
Orderley Officer struggling valiantly not to laugh.

Malaysian Air Force. back in 1957/58 when I was at Port
Swetenham (414SU) we used to get Malaysian Aux Air Force members
come to us most weekends to gain experience etc. In return some
of our JNCO's went to their HQ (which I think was 224 Group HQ)
just outside Kuala Lumpur and gave various lectures related to
Radar operating etc. Neddy Pratt and I were often detailed
(?) to be the guest instructors. Great people, the vast
majority were by far much better educated than Ned or I, and if
truth is known knew far more of the theoretical side than either
of us. Odly enough the vast majority of those in the Aux Air
Force were not Malays but Chinese or Indian. I beleieve that
when Malaya became independent (1959?) new regulations mandated
that there had to be a majority of staff in their Air Air Force
were to be Malay's. I digress.
There was 1 SNCO posted to this facility (what a posting) if I
remember rightly his name was Pete Leandro (surname spelling not
too sure) - never came across him before or after this time.

Just trying to add a little realism to your interesting story.
Perhaps this picture may have been more in keeping when you
mentioned the arrival of 'Slim' into the school.
