Whenever anybody speaks of Hong Kong two things spring readily
to mind, namely the bar girls and the bars that they were in.
The most famous of them all still spoken about fondly is The Red
Lips bar mainly due to the ugliness of the girls. Also one of
the world's most famous bars Ned Kelly's Last Stand and I'm
happy to say that I was one of the first bar supports there.
It's still going strong. Anybody fancy taking a trip there one
day with yours truly?

I went to Hong Kong twice, first time in 1965 from Borneo on the
maiden voyage of the LSL Sir Lancelot who had called into Borneo
and stated she had 8 berths for the first 8 people to get back
to the beach with a signed leave pass for 12 days. I was second
one to get back. Four day sail to HK via the Philippines, 4 days
in HK, then 4 days sail back through 1 typhoon and via Vietnam.
Second time was 1969 to 1971 last of the 2.5 year tours there.
First seven years in the RAF spent 3.5 years in the Far East.

In 71 three typhoons ploughed through Hong Kong, the first
,Freda trapped us for 48 hours up the hill. Lucy and Rose
followed and the devastation up Route Twisk(Daft name I always
thought) was enormous as a lot of the Chinese lived in shanty
towns. One woman survived a typhoon only to walk out of her flat
when the winds had died down to 30 miles per hour when a flower
pot fell from a few floors up. it missed her right shoulder by
three inches.............it landed on her head and killed her.
Bad luck ay?

Did you know that Route Twisk was named for the two towns it
joined, Tsun Wan and Sek Kong, Bill?

Did anyone visit the towel factories in Tsun Wan? We still
have a very very large Bath towel purchased whilst on a visit in
1970. Terrific Quality.
My dear wife was invited to join an English Language school for
Chinese as a teacher as a few of the wives did.
The joke was, she spoke with a broad Peterhead accent back in
those days!......... can you just imagine the result?

Actually I didn't know that Nigel, so that's why it had such a
strange name. So Tsun Wan Into Sek Kong at a guess.
Alan, it was in Tsun Wan that I met three Chinese virgins, Tu
Yung Tu, Tu Shy Tu and No yen Tu.

Not forgetting the little chinese lady who sold the news papers
every day around the blocks in Kai Tak I can hear her call now
...........PEEPER!
Was her name Mary? she didn't give a toss if you were naked
having just got out the shower she had only one thing on her
mind, to sell her PEEPERS.
