Checked you arrived the same month as I departed wondered why
your memories of the place are different to mine. That young
lass had been down the beach at least two months before you
arrived. :)
Often wonder still how she managed to be there as it was an
active service posting, even though it was more like a tropical
island holiday for us.

Dont doubt that for one moment Nigel. I didnt go down the beach
for a few days, and didnt see her on my first few visits. As to
what she was doing out there.... the only reason I can think is
that as her father was an Army Major he pulled a few strings for
his family to be out with him. Is it possible that she came and
went, like holidays etc. She didnt come down every day, just
occassionally. Whatever she was one beauty and that was for
sure. TB

It was a lovely place Brian. Nice area, nice quarter, nice
combined mess, nice shopping in the local area. In fact nice all
round except for the work. The story of my time at Feltwell is
coming up soon. So stay tuned. TB

I have just finished a book called "RAF Labuan, Borneo" by a
chap called David Bale. Can be purchased from Amazon £8.99
It gives a very good account of when the base first opened until
it being left by the RAF.
Came across an entry By Laurie Bean on page 94 that had been
taken from RAF Forum and then on Pages 194-196 an account by me
of my time there. :)

Nigel, David Bale is a member of the RAF Forum although he
hasn't been active in a while. Can't say I recall contributing
to his book.
What did the entry deal with?
Have just been re-reading the Labuan thread on there to try and
refresh my memory.

In the book it states:
Laurie Bean on the RAF Forum website states: " I know from the
209 Squadron ORB that up until May1949, 209 Squadron was tasked
with the "Borneo Courier" flights."
2.5 lines in a 220 page book Laurie. :)
My 2 .5 pages had also been taken from the RAF Forum website.
