What a gent Tiger was, an Officer of the old school, as was Rod
Lowrence :)
Some regular WRAF came up from Stanmore in 1970, and stayed for
a few nights in the WRAF block on site.
To cut to the chase I returned to the WRAF block for a brew, my
kettle was knackered in my bunk. Had a bottle of lemonade with
me as well :)
The kettle was on the boil and the door bell rang or the door
was knocked, and in came the duty WRAF officer with a dalamation
dog.
Needless to say I was caught out of bounds. so a 252 was in the
offing I was well oiled and said to the WRAF Officer, the dog
looked better than her or words to that affect.
I did not know there was an LAC or two, hiding in the old
straight lockers, the dog sniffed them out ;)
Anyway to the guardroom and duty Cpl was Ted Allison, great lad
and a mate of mine, he had a hell of a job to keep a straight
face.
Anyway the charge came up and I was advised by Rod Lowrence to
accept the punishment by Tiger Shaw.
I did and was fined 3 quid in 1970 :)
Screened for top security clearance in 82 at Fylingdales,
bearing in mind your charge sheet is supposed to be wiped after
a period of time ;), I only had one charge in 23 years. Security
expert said glad you mentioned that ;D
Happy days in more ways than one and great mates :) :)

Eddie you mentioned Tiger Shaw and Rod Lowrence, two of the
best. I was at Pat on a couple of occasions, 64-66 and 69 to
71. Pat was without doubt one of my favourite postings, I seem
to be able to recall more names of people I worked with and for
at Pat in comparison with other places. Happy daze!!!!! Don't
know if you followed the articles on the site written by Alan
Shield based on the late WO Walmsley's memoirs, if not then
spend a few hours reading them - some interesting things come up
and one especially was that Black Bart (remember him) and Slim
were LAC's together circa 1940

Brian,
So many memories on Alan's based on Slim Walmsley's memories
(RIP ) , still pouring through them, priceless.
In my view hopefully they should go into print.
Ah Black Bart and his personalised Meteor outside SHQ, the worst
CO I have ever come across.
First Navigator to do so.
Remember the countless callouts we had one week, in the end some
of the guys bailed out into a clump of trees in a field behind
the billets.
Ben Bettney the SWO, knew the score and quietly sorted it out.
I recall not sure if it was true, the Wing Commander Ops was
banished within 24 hrs when he arrived at the station.

Yes as said the dances were on a Thursday probably because if I
remember correctly it was pay day!
Those buses from Hull were quite a topic wandering who would be
on them! Fortunately for me my now brother in law was driving
one of those buses and he asked his sister in law now my wife of
45 years if she would like a free ride she accepted and was even
given a complementry ticket when queuing up to enter the club
and has I've told her many times she has had a free journey in
life ever since! I won't repeat what she said to that!
No Jim I was not on the entertaiment committee.
I'm confused now, was the club called Horizon or Haven as the
advert plublished here states.
Happy days!

It was the Horizon Club when we were there.
I think it became Haven when it became the 'Haven Holidays' camp
site.
Alan will know for sure as i assume he still croons there.
(Hmmmm!!!! It appears we have two 'RAF Patrington' forum
topics)

Life goes on and long after the the last sortie was controlled
by RAF Patrington, the latest news about this historic Military
site has been released via the local news paper the Withernsea
Gazette.
Mr James Fox, the Curator of 'The Bunker' has today announced
details of the "Improvements" to be carried out in 2015.
The Entrance area will have a refreshment area and shop and a
lounge to enable disabled people to enjoy a televised tour
below ground.
The Master Allocation Room previously situated on the lower
ground floor will be transformed into a concert Hall complete
with a "Mighty Viscount Princeton 995 Electronic Concert Organ!"
This transformation is part of a new Performing Arts venue.
'The Bunker' will reopen to the public at Easter 2016.

Alan ..I hope this is your sense of humour taking over, if not
.... then
Nostalgia is dead.... words almost fail me. Definitely off my
list. The owners really should go and look at Scotlands Secret
Bunker, previously the Ops site for RAF Anstruther, the place is
quite a gem compared to what I hear and read about Holmpton.

Obviously the 'hole' is taking on a new role, I wonder who's
bright idea that was. Mind you there shouldn't be any noise
complaints from the neighbours once the organ spews forth :-\

Its a sad day then, just think of the hundreds of RAF personnel,
from all parts of the UK, that have walked down that corridor to
their place of duty. Who ever has come up with the grandiose
plan has no appreciation of just what went on down the hole, and
in my view, shows little or no respect for people and the work
they did there over many years. I maybe a bit old fashioned,
but to me its a bit of an insult to the memory of this
particular MRS and the role it played over many years in radar
operations.
