Alan sorry to hear that you had to postpone your holiday -
speedy recovery to your better half - can't understand why
anyone would want to leave sunny Winklestrasse anyway.
If I remember correctly those 'Sunday' night dances were on
Thursday nights ! at least that's when the I thought the buses
were arranged, it would have been pointless going to the dances
without those buses coming in !

I also recall the dances were on Thursday nights, seem to
remember a fellow called Bob Bush was the entertainments man on
the Horizon committee, also for some reason I recall a group
from RAF Binbrooke played there just after they had a top ten
hit 'Good News Week'.

Horizon Club Thursday nights very memorable for all, many good
times remembered with the girls that came in. The Binbrook Group
we had that night was the Hedgehoppers Anonymous. That protest
song, Good News Week, caused them lots of trouble, very
controversial, especially seeing they were in the RAF. Didnt go
down at all well.

Lots of good times , remember Bob Bush very well and the dances
were on Thursday :)
We had a couple of buses arriving at one time, we even had a
reciprocal invite from the Birds Pea lot to their do in Hull.
Some where near the King Edward, a few of us went to have a
Shufti, before heading off to the Locarno and the Spencer Arms.
We opened the doors and facing us was a wall of Hull's finest,
no room for faint hearts ;)
They all rose and came heading for us, think there was five of
us, needless to say we decided to shoot through to greener
pastures ;D
Happy days indeed :)

You could be right Steve.
I think it was 1966 when they were at Pat and the grey matter
gets a bit vague after these few years.
I heard the RAF posted them all to different locations to split
them up after that record was released. Dont know how true that
was.
Wasn't Mick Mills also something to do with Entertainments as
well as Bob Bush?

I recall one Thursday night dance, must have been around about
1967, when a bunch of local lads gatecrashed the club and the
ensuing fracas spilled out onto the grassed area and road
outside.
The Officers Mess were also having a do and the commotion
attracted the attention of said occupants including Tiger Shaw.
Remember Tiger staggering about in his mess kit encouraging our
lads to give the civvies what for!
