       RAF Helensburgh

       I've just found out that the Rosslea Hall Hotel where I work was
       the headquarters of RAF Helensburgh during WW2.  RAF Helensburgh
       was a Sunderland Flying Boat Unit based at Rhu 2 miles north of
       Helensburgh on the shores of the Gareloch.  Officers were
       billeted in what is now the Royal Northern & Clyde Cruising Club
       which is next door to the Rosslea and other ranks were billeted
       with famiies in Helensburgh.
       When I was growing up there were 2 old hangars that were left
       over from the war and now there is a new hangar style building
       which is used by the Royal Navy for there Nuclear Emergency
       Reaction Organisation.  In between WW2 and it present use it was
       used for flat bottomed landing craft who supplied the Royal
       Artillery Range on St Kilda until as recently as the late 80's.
       I will do some digging to see if I can find any more information
       on RAF Helensburgh.
