I wonder if it was the same Mad Mary F/Sgt in the cookhouse at
Compton Bassett in 1960. Sent there one evening and had to
remove the skins of beetroot, never done it before, so after a
few choice words from her I got the hang of it.

Probably was Gerry. (have amended her rank) Her reputation was
only exceeded by her apettite for screaming at young recruits.

Mad Mary was i/c when I was at Compton Bassett in 1959, she
definitely didn't like us WRAFs.

Too true 6 weeks hard work to end up in hospital, all because of

I didn't pass out either. No best blue!! Had to have one
tailor made and it didn't arrive in time. Did all the
rehearsals, just in case, but no sign of the uniform. Left in
the block on the big day to look after the kit. C'est la vie!

Hard to imagine that so many years ago we would have been so
disappointed at missing a parade. Then years later did
everything to get off one. AOC's comes to mind. TB
