       [quote author=Elias Nordling link=topic=81.msg2451#msg2451
date=1558194729]2) *Actually, does points for bombing the
airfield carry over from the first to the second part? This
isn't entirely clear. If not, it seems to provide even greater
reason for the Germans to try to win by avoiding part 2.[/quote]
I'm unsure what's unclear about this text:
At the end of extended play, total each side’s Victory Points.
Include those earned in the first part (yes, that includes the
VPs the Germans earned from bombing the airfield).

Can the Bf109D Escort carry over? After all, it turns into a
sweep when tallying, but the setup instruction only lists
       BF109e:s.

Good question. [s]Let's say it can for now.[/s]
On second thoughts, after looking at the scenario, no. Let's
limit this to the squadrons initially designated as sweep.

       V0.5
       Player: Elias Nordling (solo)
T1-2: 1 He111, 1 Bf109 lost to flak. 2 bombing hits on the DD by
the He111s, Ju88s steep angle bomb Hvy flak, 4 hits, silenced.
The G.I make an ineffective head-on attack on Ju52s, and barely
       avoids dogfight.
       T3: 7 more bombing hits on DD, sunk. 1 G.I broken, 1 Ju52 disr.
       1 Bf109 broken.,1 dogfight.
Comment: The score is now 13, so the Germans would like the
paradrop to fail, to ensure a win. that just feels wrong.
T4: Since only lt flak left, only 1 transport is affected by
flak. 1st two Ju52s get 12 hits, easily capturing the base. Both
dutch ftrs in dogfights, losing 4 G.I.
Score: 28 so far. On to phase 2.
       Phase 2:
The Fighters basically go at each other again. Weary G.I break
       quickly.
Mostly fighter fights, no one can reach Ju87 or T.V in time.
Dutch fighters rarely get better than -2 column but overperform
       in this game.
T3: 2 ftrs on each side left, of which 1 in Dogfight. Stuka goes
into dive bombing, T.V glide bombs airfield. Ju87 takes 2 flak
losses. T.V rolls 10 on bombing at+0, 7 hits, enough for heavy
damage on the airfield. The Allies are done. Both sides in
       dogfight break.
T4+: Blenheims abort. Ju87s roll 50% against lt flak. Remaining
fighters bang into each other. Few losses despite a long pursuit
       of the Bf110 breaks.
       Score:
       German:
       Bombing 10 (airfield)+15(DD)+3(Hvy Flak)+2 (lt flak)=30+4G.I=36
       Dutch: Bombing 10 + 4 Bf109, 2 Bf110, 2 Ju87, 1 Ju52, 1 He111:
       23
       Total: 13 German win
Felt like: No idea, everyone achieved everything, but the Dutch
       sure killed more aircraft.
       Comments
There is a heavy incentive for the Dutch to NOT attack the
transports in the early part! The He111s can cause enough damage
to secure an early victory, and the Dutch only help them by
disrupting the transports. Attacking the He111:s will also put
distance between them and the Bf109 sweeps.
It looks strange that dogfights are dissolved between the parts.
Would make more sense to have them resolved.
It seems the scenario can work as well without its 2-part
structure with fixed reinforcement entry times, T6 for those
starting on the map in the 2nd part, and a sudden death German
loss if they fail to capture the airfield, and an optional short
version ending at the end of T5, when all the paratroopers have
       dropped.

Do you think the perverse incentive not to attack the transports
might go away if this were combined into one big scenario,
       without the intermediate victory condition?

It would, not the least because you would have the chance to
chase the transports through their egress, which you can't do
       now.

I agree, particularly since it was aggravatingly difficult for
the Germans to even continue to the second half of the scenario
based on the victory conditions (at least, while I was
       playtesting it).
