By 'Republican low fighters' do you mean both the wing and the
I-15 squadron? Or just the I-15 squadron?

IIRC we moved all 4 squadrons (including the I-15s

Scenario: Bombers First.
Version: 0.6.
Playtesters: Scott S(Solo).
Set Up: I set the CR32 escorts 2 squares above the bombers. In
retrospect this was an error.
Summary: All squadrons save one He 111 broke. Only the
non-broken He 111 bombed successfully. Nationalists lost 2
Bombers and 7 Fighters. The Republicans lost 4 Fighters. Net
+5 for Republicans which is a draw. My failure to place the
escorts closer prevented them from intercepting the opening
fighter attacks. The Republicans had better dice rolling.
Overall I think this one is nicely balanced.

Maybe start the 109s and Chupete farther apart, but I'm fine
with it as is.

I felt, with everyone playing The Great Raid I'd be better off
waiting too see if any changes come up, so I played this one
instead.
The rolls were extreme. In both directions and for both players,
so i have no idea how that affected balance. The initial bounce
by a Bf109 that caused 4 Chupete-losses to 1 Bf109 set the
tone. For a while it looked like the Bf109s were about to win
the battle on their own, breaking republican fighters right and
left. Then, surprisingly, 1,5 Republican squadrons were the only
fighters left. Even more surprisingly, they didn't score a
single hit with that advantage.
Score:
Republican:
1 bomber, 4 fighters: 5
Nationalists: 4 bomb hits=5, 7 fighters: 12
TOTAL: -7 Massive Nationalist victory
Felt like: Nationalist win
Comment: There was absolutely nothing I would want to change
with the gameplay. It was wild and fun, and felt true to the
historical description. The 10 point margin for the Nationalist
win might be a cause for concern, but the fact that the Chupetes
were taken out on turn 1 in a drive-by shooting probably had a
lot to do with it. I will play it again for another data point.

I forgot the rules question: If an attack against a bomber is a
head-on, it takes preceedence over special rule 3, right? You
might want to make that a little clearer.
