       Piping up as a Canadian . . .
If all the squadrons are RCAF then identifying them as Canadian
       seems appropriate.
The whole manning business is a fraught issue for both the Navy
and Air Force as many Canadians served (as Canadians) in HM
ships and RAF units, while both the RN and the RAF had a
tendency to want to fill senior positions, even in Canadian
escort groups and RCAF units, with British officers. By 1939
the Canadian Army (which fought these "battles" in 1914-18) was
much more "national" and had much more success in resisting
British efforts to insert their own officers.
       My two cents :-)
       Rick
