V07 Malta Recce

Appreciate that this doesn't fit with either Eagles or Origins
but following a conversation with Lee recently Andrew & I agreed
to have a go at this & Nemesis for second edition Victories as
both are probably problem children in the current scenario
list-largely as a result of me trying to be too clever by half
with scenario design early on when I had even less tea what I
was doing than I currently have.
So...we've run this 6 times & I think we are fairly happy with
the outcome.
As with other small tight scenarios it plays fast & depends on
whether both sides have reasonable options & how the options
interact. This one is particularly volatile as a great deal
depends on whether the recce 110 is caught & shot down, or not.
Suggestions:
1. Remove the ground targets entirely. The flak has a reasonable
chance (2 shots) of killing the 110 & completely derailing a
game that is on track for a LW win based purely on dice rolls.
Also the narrative mentions that the 110 was caught N of Gozo,
miles from the targets over Malta.
2. Give the RAF 1 veteran...this gives the RAF some interesting
choices at start (see below)
3. VP thresholds:
RAF win 0 or less (stop the recce for even losses or better OR
do much better in AtA combat than the Axis-which will be a
challenge)
Draw 0.5 to 2.5; Either recce fails but the Axis win AtA or
recce succeeds but Axis do badly AtA
LW win +3 or more recce success and/ or decisive Axis AtA win
(again will likely be a challenge to get this margin without
recce success)
I would suggest just using the standard 3 VP for successful exit
of a bomber (recce) flight-loses an SSR & ensures that if the
RAF run away the LW win-the RAF have to stay & fight.
Outcomes for our 6 outings were (sorry the table forma doesn't
port but I hope the 6 columns & headings are self explanatory):
