Okay. I just noodled with this some more this morning and
uploaded a new file to dropbox, titled
WL_example_play_1_20Oct19.pdf. I'm feeling happy with the way
this is going.
Of course, I'm still waiting on Pete to provided finished text
for the Combat Phase.
Note that I have added a bunch of sidebars whose role is to
comment on the action at a high level, in some cases providing
tactical advice. At one point in Turn 3 I even comment on the
movement of the Bf 109 sweep, noting that its move was
sub-optimal and offering alternatives. I think giving these
sorts of insights is helpful and I'm open to adding more if
people have suggestions.

Pete, I'm sorry to pressure you, when I know you want to get on
with your videos, but do you think you can deliver me the
remainder of the example of play by the end of Friday?
That would allow me to finish laying out the first draft on
Saturday and get either Rick and/or Vincent to start proofing
it.

This is excellent. Covering many bases.
As some feedback, consider adding a quick shout out to the
Availability sidebar in the turn 1 text before the 110 moves.
Why? Well I read through this section three times thinking
surely the reason for no reaction is addressed. I found the
Availability sidebar note on the 4th read. Thought I’d pass my
experience on to you. I freely admit I’m not the brightest bulb
in the socket so consider the source of this feedback.
Also, the German ID marker S for the He111 sqdn on the wing
display shows unalerted when bombers don’t track alert status.
We obviously know this. And we know this is a counter issue but
a newcomer may appreciate a short addition to the wing display
set up sidebar note explaining why unalerted is showing for sqd
S.

Thanks, Al.
I wasn't sure what you were asking for on the Availability
sidebar. Was that just a thumbs up for it? Or were you wanting
it moved?
Good point on the bomber's ID marker.

I kept re-reading the text expecting to find the reason the 110s
didn’t react. Didn’t think to check the sidebar until my 4th
time thru. I was suggesting you make a reference to the
Availability sidebar note within the text.
Something simple added after the 110 completes its movement like
“(note that the 110 escort is no longer eligible to react, see
sidebar)”

Page 9. Missing “-2” at the end of this text grab...
The last combat to resolve is in L2 between British squadron G
and
German squadron S. The Germans will again be the defender in
this
combat since bombers are involved. Again, the Hurricanes are
attacking
from ‘out of the Sun’ and will receive the bounce advantage. The
British
choose to use speed values. The British Hurricanes have a speed
of 4 +
1 (Dive marker) = 5. The German He 111s have a speed of 4 - 1
(bomb
load) = 3. This results in a combat differential of

Note to self: remember to add credits to the EoP.

Will there also be examples of barrage placement in the Examples
of Play?

I imagine we will do that once we get to doing a bombing-related
EoP.
