[quote author=Elias Nordling link=topic=54.msg6005#msg6005

current printed rules disallow having gun pods and bombs at the
same time.
13.5.1 is specific that you cannot mix pods with weapon loads.
[quote author=Elias Nordling link=topic=54.msg6005#msg6005
date=1592456584]Ideally, this could have been handled by
scenario instructions for the few scenarios where it can happen,
and you could make a note for it in the errata if you want to.
Given this, I think it's fair that it is a play note and not an
actual rule.
Even though they are exceptions I think they need to be rules,
because they change the way things work. However, I only have
space for a sidebar, so this will be an odd departure from how
we normally do things.

Those of you reviewing the living rules, I had some feedback
from Rick on the strafing sidebars. Nothing's changed much,
except that I've made them more generic, to cope with gun pod
use by Ju 87D-3, Bf 110G and Re.2001.

So just to clarify, the proposed update to strafing rules does
NOT hinder a sweep from declaring strafing in order to dive to
lower altitude, only to tally targets before actually completing
the strafing attack? This is what it looks like to me and I’ve
seen that tactic come up in multiple scenarios.

No, I don't think we can legislate against that. However, the
new rule is much clearer on when and where the squadron gets
free movement (and it is after it has strafed).

Also, it is a bit more restrictive than before, because you have
to fly the shortest route and can't circle. So you can't tailor
it as much as before.
