I've made decent strides on the campaign recently. This big
problem ahead of me now is calculation of fuel values (actually
endurance values) for aircraft. That's really nasty data to pin
down.

Spent a good chunk of the day foiguring out Fuel values for
various aircraft. Easiest for the Americans because you can read
it off the flight manuals.
I hadn't appreciated how little fuel the P-39 carried. Its
grossly inadequate. I also hadn't appreciated the insane fuel
capacity of the Hellcat.

So, much of the weekend has been spent researching fuel figures
for aircraft, for the camapign. I have some values that are
pretty accurate, based off actual flight operating manual
tables. There are some others that are a mixture of informed
guess and calculation. And of course it's all complicated by the
fact that endurance and range figures are themselves complex
things, given that pilots could eke out long distances with low
revs and the leanest of fuel mixtures, but that these
endurance/ferry conditions would not apply to actual combat ops.
At this stage it's hard to say how much fuel comes to bear on
the campaign game, except for very obvious situations such as
the Battle of Britain. Though even there I'm not sure how big a
factor it is, given the combat reserve the Bf 109s carried.
Let's face it, for most campaign ops fuel was an issue that
limited deep penetration, but most campaign scenarios will be
calibrated to happen within the comfortable endurance limits of
the escorts. So this could end up being a rule no-one uses.

I'm responding to your feedback. I'm adding an overview to the
Manoeuvre rules section that hopefully gives a useful outline of
how manoeuvre works.

Elias, Andrew and Gordon, I've just uploaded a set of totally
new files to the usual place. The big changes are:
The Manoeuvre rules have a summary section designed to make
comprehension easier. Not that this isn't supposed to be a
substitute for the rules. I don't want to start stuffing this
section with detail, or it will cease to function as a summary
and start beiing a rules section.
The campaign rules in the Scenario book. A first draft, to be
sure.
